Summary

Welcome to the hotel where nobody checks out. When a desk clerk welcomes a group of tourists into his mysterious and crumbling hotel, the last thing he expects is that a lone girl on his tour may hold the power to unravel the hidden mystery that has lain for untold centuries within the structure’s walls. The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore (Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving. As the narrator takes you deeper and deeper into the heart of the hotel, secrets that have been hiding for aeons begin to show themselves. Although he is quite prepared for this experience, there is some question as to whether or not the rest of the world shares this readiness. Kenemore's incredible style and originality carry The Grand Hotel to places most people only see in their nightmares. And while we don’t know all of the secrets that lie within the Grand Hotel, we know that the person who does hold that knowledge puts fear into the narrator himself - a thought that ought to terrify everyone.

Quite an enjoyable listen

My only complaint was that the reader was in parts, a wee bit ‘bland’, but this did not detract from an enjoyable, classic ‘Tales from the vaults’ type anthology.

A great start but then it dragged on

This a well written, well crafted tale that is unfortunately several hours too long. The last three or four hours dragged so much it took me over a week to finish it.
Some of the chapters were over an hour long!
It would have been easy to edit this book down considering the stories of each character are totally standalone.

Did not expect that!!

What a brilliant book! Like the other reviews it took a little time to get into. Once I did I found that I didn’t want to stop eager for the next story within the bigger story. Excellently written!! Thank you!!

Surprisingly good!

I came upon this at random and honestly wasn't expecting much but was really surprised. I listened to it all over two evenings which is rare as narrators normally bore me. A well out together series of shorter stories held well within the overall plot of the book. I enjoyed how all the stories built the anticipation towards the end and the pinnacle of the plot (no spoilers!).
Give it a try.

Beautiful!

Truly enjoyed every second of this. Narration was awesome, despite the peculiar pronunciations (it kinda worked.) Fantastic story, and likeable characters, didn’t want it to end!

Absolutely loved this!

Wow, this was awesome. I was gripped right from the start. I love the unusual structure of it, and how all the individual stories make up the book. And the narrator absolutely nailed it, he was so so good. Definitely would recommend, in fact I already sent the details to friends I know have audible,

The Grand Hotel. A Novel

What a weird and wonderfully creepy set of stories. It is very long, but do stick with it. The narrator is brilliant too. Highly recommended.

Quirky and entertaining, But Oh! the accents!

This is more an anthology of stories linked with an over-arching theme, than a novel, but it was fun.

However, it did over-stay it's welcome a little as the chapters/stories got longer, and the accents got more irritating. By the time it got to hearing the name Semaurnthah (Samantha) mispronounced about 50 times in an hour, my patience was stretched.

Also, if you're setting stories in the U.K. - get a a native Brit to give it the once-over, in this day and age there's no excuse for assuming the brand names and slang terms - or the vowel sounds! - are the same as the USA when they can be easily checked.
