Summary

This book won a World Fantasy Award. It's remarkable: The stories are rich, fascinating stuff - creepy and unsettling and phantasmic. Imagine what Tolkien's Lord of the Rings would have been like if Tolkien had tried to tell that story sympathetically from the point of view of the human denizens of Mordor and you'll have the slightest sense of what you're about to wade into... but only just a sense.

These stories will make the same demands on you that they made on Brian: They will command and compel you, and fill you full of terrible wonder. And when you've finished them, you'll find yourself wanting more.

Not for the faint of heart but splendid.

Prepare for blood, gore and situations where you are unsure if you should be aroused or disgusted.

ghouls and necromancers are the subject of the matter, and the world created is original and brutal but somehow familiar.

Worth the time, but definitely not for one with delicate sensibilities.

It's also worth noting that the narrator is, without a doubt, the only choice for this book, and I wish he narrated other favourites of mine. His narration is an absolute gift, and deserves the highest praise.

Stories good, organisation bad

Awesome collection of stories, but a nightmare to navigate using audible. The chapters don’t have any names or context of what story they’re part of so not easily referenceable unless you only want to listen to the first story lol

Good luck with this one
