Summary

At the height of the Vietnam War, a search and rescue team known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon.

As Vulture Squad hunts through the primordial depths of the valley, they discover ancient horrors that not only threaten to unravel their minds, but to end their lives, as well. When the casualties mount, the men of Vulture Squad must abandon their human nature and give in to their savage instincts to survive...the Primitive War.

Awesome Dinosaur action!

Absolutely loved this! Up there with Jurassic Park. If you like dinosaur horror you can't go wrong here. It's like DinoCrisis in Vietnam.

Wonderful contribution

Very well researched, both regarding dinosaurs and PTSD soldiers face from the savagery and ravages of war.
It was very detailed and rather gruesome and gory but I'm not complaining, this isn't a children's story.

The characters were fleshed out well, I felt a connection to unexpected characters. I look forward to diving into the following works. Thank you!

Dino Crisis in Viet Cong

Viet Cong war mixed with crazy russian scientists and dinosaurs. This book turned out better than expected. The narration is a bit monotone at times, but the story keeps it up. The overall story is a mixture of different genres, but people who know video games such as Dino Crisis and Primal Hunt will love this!

Jurassic Park meets Kong:Skull island

Sme of scenarios are really exciting and had me gripped, plus
it's more gory, so let's hope the big screen adaptation is not Syfy channel level.
The story is decent enough, soldiers sent in to rescue soldiers Yadda Yadda Yadda, with nasty russians thrown in.
A lot of characters are a tad cliched and poorly performed, could not take the interpretation of Ely seriously.
.Still is good to see dinosaurs v soldiers.

Amazing!

After reading the synopsis of this book, I knew it had to be good and it didn’t disappoint!

It’s the perfect blend of platoon, predator and Jurassic Park. It’s action and horror elements are very well done and the level of detail put in is truly amazing and I can’t wait for more Primitive War!

Thoroughly enjoyed, felt like a kid at times.

Listening to the audiobook I felt like the author grew up watching the same movies and shows I did and had a deep love for them in a way that influenced his story telling. (In a good way, for me personally.)

The horror moments hit their mark.
The dinosaurs & prehistoric reptiles all stood out from each other. There is some really neat speculative/fantastical behaviours for some of the critters.

The characters were mostly likeable and the ones who are iffy at first I found myself coming around on or at least feeling pity for.
Some characters as soon as they're introduced you know they're just included in the story to get mangled though.

The narration (While mostly good) would sometimes suck me out of my immersion when the narrator would randomly spring in to a deep edgy 2000's/2010's action movie trailer voice or randomly sound like he got a bug stuck in his throat, don't really know what he was going for, his normal voice was nice though.

One thing which personally didn't offend me but I can see potentially bothering others is the voice impressions of the Vietnamese characters, there were a few moments I thought the narrator was gonna go full "Oh herro" (Think Kim Jong II from Team America)

Primitive War isn't a masterpiece but its sincere and its fun, and the gore descriptions are satisfyingly gross. I don't think I can wait for the second audiobook to crack in to the sequel. I also look forward to the comics.
