Summary

Captain Lacey is asked by Peter Thompson of the Thames River Police to help him investigate a cold case - the murder of a woman found near the docks Thompson patrols. The investigation was sidelined, considered unsolvable, but Thompson has long wished to find her killer.

Captain Lacey joins him in the hunt, entering a part of society that is closed to outsiders. Meanwhile, he must deal with his daughter's debut and more developments in his new domestic life, including an anonymous blackmailer who's out to ruin Lacey any way he can.

Book 10 of the Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries series.

Just keeps getting better.

Book 10 in the Captain Lacy series is still keeping my interest. Can't wait for the next one. The narrator is spot on and makes it easy to get lost in the story.

Love Captain Lacey!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one, as I have all before.
The characters draw you in and come alive. I hope Ms. Gardner continues to write these stories. I'm up to book 11 and cannot wait to dig in.

great story

love the story and as usual, James Gillies is absolutely perfect. Would not be the same without him narrating.

Enjoyable as always

Another great Captain Lacey adventure. James Gilles brings Gabriel to life....the story becomes like my own private movie in my head.

I Adore This Series

Where does The Thames River Murders rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have read this series for years. I first found it in a used book store in paperback. I liked the premise but it seemed dark and certainly not like any Regency I had read up till then. I bought it and was enthralled. This last book was so poignant yet as riveting as the earlier books. When you read as many books as I do, you forget so I just spent a rainy weekend rereading the books in the earlier part of the series. It’s seems silly to me to try to rank one book ahead another so l won’t but if you love character driven mysteries, buy these Ashley Gardner ones.
