Summary

William Collins Books and Decca Records are proud to present ARGO Classics, a historic catalogue of classic fiction read by some of the world’s most renowned voices. Originally released as vinyl records, these expertly abridged and remastered stories are now available to download for the first time.

In the foggy streets of London, two men – one a respectable doctor and one a depraved killer – become mysteriously entangled.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s psychological thriller, which brought the idea of the split personality to the public’s attention, is voiced by former Doctor Who, Tom Baker.

The tale of Dr Jekyll’s decline into his murderous alter-ego, Mr Hyde, retains its capacity to probe the evil that exists in humankind.

Great story, good narration, low quality audio

This recording was first released by Argo in 1979. Unfortunately this Audible digital release seems to have been sourced from a poor quality mono recording (as if they used a cheap cassette player to make an even lower quality mp3). I have a copy on record in stereo and the sound quality is far superior to this version.

It's reasonable value for money if you don't already have a copy. But it's a poor transfer.
