Summary

The spellbinding series continues. Following the bestselling The Seven Sisters, The Storm Sister is the second book in Lucinda Riley's epic saga of love and loss, inspired by the mythology of the Seven Sisters constellation.

Read by Hattie Morahan (The Burning Chambers, Girl with a Pearl Earring)

Ally D'Aplièse, in her early thirties, is about to compete in one of the world's most perilous yacht races when she hears the news of her adoptive father's sudden, mysterious death. Rushing back to meet her five sisters at their family home, she discovers that her father – an elusive billionaire affectionately known to his daughters as Pa Salt – has left each of them a tantalizing clue to their true heritage.

Ally recently embarked on a deeply passionate love affair that will change her destiny forever. But with her life now turned upside down, Ally decides to leave the open seas and follow the trail that her father left her, leading to the icy beauty of Norway . . .

There, Ally begins to discover her roots – and how her story is inextricably bound to that of a young unknown singer, Anna Landvik, who lived there over a hundred years before, and sang in the first performance of Grieg's iconic music set to Ibsen's play 'Peer Gynt'. As Ally learns more about Anna, she also begins to question who her father, Pa Salt, really was. And she begins to wonder: why is their seventh sister missing?

The epic, multi-million selling series continues with The Shadow Sister.

Worth re hearing after reading Pa Salt!

Listening to all the books again having read the final and eighth book. Really worth the time, as events recalled in book 8 become highlighted as you re-listen.

Brilliant story, rather abrupt ending.

The second in the series, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. My only qualm is that the ending dealt very abrupt, which is slightly disappointing.

Enchanting, heart warming and uplifting.

I recently had the pleasure of diving into the captivating world of Lucinda Riley's second installment of "The Seven Sisters" series, and I must say, it was an enchanting journey from start to finish. Riley's masterful storytelling skillfully weaves together themes of love, loss, and discovery, creating a narrative that is both deeply moving and utterly captivating.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Norway, Riley's meticulous research shines through, effortlessly bringing the rich tapestry of history alive. As I entered each chapter, I found myself transported to the stunning landscapes and vibrant culture of Norway, igniting a deep-seated desire within me to explore and experience its beauty firsthand.

What truly elevated my reading experience was the impeccable narration by Hattie Morahan. Her eloquent reading not only breathed life into the characters but also added an extra layer of depth and emotion to the story. Morahan's delivery was nothing short of mesmerizing, effortlessly drawing me into the world of "The Seven Sisters" and keeping me enthralled until the very end.

In summary, Lucinda Riley's "The Seven Sisters: Book Two" is a literary gem that seamlessly blends history, romance, and intrigue. It is a testament to the power of storytelling and a must-read for anyone seeking an unforgettable literary adventure. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I am eager to begin book number 3 in this wonderful series.
