Brilliant Story

Gianna is a victim of domestic abuse and while this goes on for three years, she finally finds the courage to leave and escape the nightmare which has become her life, until she runs into a man from her past. Derek is nothing like Ethan, calm and patience can he help Gianna trust again and be able to live the life she was meant to live.

This is the first book I have listened to by this author and oh my what a book to start with. I can understand if some people shy away from this book due to the subject matter but Dakota's writing is beautiful and respectful of the subject around domestic abuse.

My heart broke for the main character Gianna, as you see her eternal flame dying out with each attack by the person who is suppose to love and protect you. The turmoil she was in, her strength to move on with her life was brilliant. I also loved Derek's character he was the calm reason to her life which made the story more palatable as there was a light at the end. With listening to the story you feel you are walking Gia's every step and you can imagine the scenes unfolding with detail and with a voice to the words hits your heart right in the centre.

All the feels!

Dakota Willink is absolutely amazing. The book just had me in my feelings. It totally exceeded my expectation. I cried, and I loved this amazing book. The book was well written and the characters are multi dimensional. The narration was out of this world and really made this book fabulous.

Dark, brutal storyline. But for some women a daily struggle

Dakota totally captures the before, early I am the best, he is the greatest, the honeymoon. To slowly showing the true colours…. To full on Monster of a domestic abuser.
The female narrator does depict fear and emotion needed for some of the scenes. The other narrators are excellent to and they just suck you into the story…… I listened in just under 3 days 🤫

Am incredible story!!!

The Sound of Silence Audio Book by Dakota Willink is a gripping and intense story that literally had my pulse racing. For so much of this book I found myself on the edge of my seat. It almost felt like I was right there with Gia and there were times when my heart was in my throat at the thought of what was about to happen. The author has done such an incredible job with this book. It is heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time. I loved how she used the multiple POV’s to really add depth to the story. For me it made it even better. This book definitely contains triggers so for those that may be sensitive of them I would say read with caution. However I also cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is easily my favourite one by this author and it is also one of the best books that I have listened to or read this year! I am already looking forward to experiencing this one again. An amazing and emotional book I would urge everyone to pick up today!!!

Heartbreaking

So the story focuses around marital abuse and at times my heart broke when I was listening to this it was so gut-wrenching. From very early on you know exactly what it is going g to be happening in this book. I feel like the author handled it really well and respectively and sensitively too. I really like that the author tackled these topics and it was written really well.

The narrators of the audiobook did a fantastic job with this story and really brought it to life and also handled it with such care.

Chilling!

The Sound of Silence deals with domestic violence and is emotional, intense and powerful. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning all the way until the end. While this story is fiction and parts of it are not easy to listen to, it is the type of book that helps people who have never found themselves in an abusive relationship to understand and have compassion for those who have and for them to see it's a lot easier to just tell someone to get out of the relationship than it is for them to actually do it. The statistics given by Dakota at the end in the author's notes are staggering. I love both Gianna and Derek and highly recommend listening to their story.

Sean, Sarah and Connor all did an amazing job breathing life into these characters and bringing out all of their emotions. They truly brought this story to life for me.

A Must Read/Listen

The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink is a dark romantic suspense that I listened to on audio narrated by Sean Crisden, Sarah Puckett, and Connor Crais.

This book does come with a Trigger Warning: This story contains situations of domestic violence and abuse. Some aspects may be sensitive for some listeners.

This is the first book of Dakota’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. This is a story that really needed to be told and Dakota did it in an amazing way. The book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I loved that we got Gianna, Ethan, and Derek’s points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Sarah, Sean, and Connor did an amazing job on the narration! They really brought the story to life and made me feel all the emotions of the characters.

I would highly recommend this book if you love romantic suspense. This is a MUST READ!

This one was really good! Even though this deals with a tough subject of marital domestic violence/abuse, Dakota did put a different spin on Ethan's past. This one is really fast paced and to me it had a thriller vibe to it. Very well written.

The narrators Sean, Sarah and Connor were perfect for their roles.

What a fantastic storyline

This book is written very well. The realistic aspect of this situation is perfect. The emotion captured by Dakota is amazing. Sarah gives a heartfelt performance, with great performance’s from both Sean and Connor as well.

Strong and Silent

This story is an emotional roller coaster that has you rooting for Gianna. Gianna escapes from an abusive relationship and has to hide because she knows her husband will not stop searching for her. She meets the man she met on her wedding day and never forgot. She is not open for a relationship but he waits and gives her what she needs. The husband is now on the run and has found her. Neither expected how twisted this man really is. Now she must fight and take back her life.
