Summary
No other book in history has done more to clarify the esoteric, mystical, and occult traditions of the world than Manly P. Hall's The Secret Teachings of All Ages.
Now, historian Mitch Horowitz provides the first companion work to Hall's opus. The Seeker's Guide to The Secret Teachings of All Ages helps 21st-century audiences enter and experience (or reexperience) Hall's hallowed pages and also clarifies and expands on some of the book's key themes and topics.
Mitch explores developments and historical discoveries since Hall published his "Great Book" nearly a century ago and adds fresh dimensions to subjects, including:
- The antiquity and legacy of ancient Egypt
- The mystical origins of the world's major faiths
- Strange beasts and anomalies in history and today
- The origins and esotericism of Tarot

Enlightning but full of strawmen
Unfortunately Mr Horowitz decides in the first chapter to build a mounting of strawmen. also has a great understanding of manly p halls work, whenever I read him he seems to be disingenuous. although this may just be my personal perception due to disagreement that he believes most people always shout about the Illuminati especially following social or economic disasters. unfortunately for Mr Horowitz we are in a time (2022) when the so-called deep state have decided to present their steel man, and it looks real to me. although it also looks like it can be melted down as long as the people stand together.

Religious and mystical enquirier
Don’t normally write a review felt mystically write one. As a philosopher and enquirer this simple but cohesive review of Manly Hall book is great place start for average seeker who hasn’t much knowledge of different esoteric traditions

Too many personal anecdotes makes it too much about the author
When the author discusses M.H., the book of SToAA and related subjects, it is very interesting. However, a lot of the content is about the author’s personal stories, his accessories and tattoos, and those parts feel like uninvited personal opinions instead of relevant as a guide to SToAA. The book would be mucho better if the author removed himself from the spotlight.

great book
Mitch Horowitz is one of the foremost living experts on the occult. He speaks and writes clearly, simply and yet with great intelligence and passion for his subject. Whether you have read "the secret teachings" or not, or whether or not you intend to, this book is an excellent primer on esotericism in general and manly P halls work in specific.

Great Introduction/companion to Secret Teachings
This was my first introduction to The Secret Teachings of All Ages, and it was great to listen to Mitch as I explore the book. As with any book Mitch writes there is lots of personal experiences and insights along the way. Highly recommend.
