Summary
Single and jobless once again, I return to Boston, needing old friends to comfort me from bad decisions, like dating my boss, moving in with him, and being dumped, fired, and homeless all in one night.
Note to self, never ask a man “Where is this going?” when you have no place to go!
So when my bestie tells me an old friend from high school happens to be looking for a roommate, I jump at the chance.
What she didn’t tell me was that this "old friend" was Carson Hill, Mass High School’s center hockey player and the guy who didn’t know I existed while I knew nearly every detail about him.
Now, in his first year playing with the Boston Knightwings, he’s not the same socialite playboy I remember. He’s broody, snobbish, and completely unapproachable.

Completely enjoyable
I really enjoyed listening to this. The narrators been an incredible job and kept me engaged and amused.
This is one of my fav stories so was amazing being able to listen to it brought to life x

Great story
I loved the dual narrating of the story. I loved Carson wanting to be there for his sister and niece when his sister found herself in an impossible situation. His love for the two of them was so touching. Also, I enjoyed the male narrator I was not a huge fan of the female narrator she just was okay. However I definitely am glad I did listen because after reading the ebook this made me like Carson even more.

Carson 🫠🫠🫠🫠
Second audiobook by Roxanne and this one was tad more angsty than The Better Bully, but not as angsty as the Blades of Heart series. This story follows Carson and Paige and their fake dating relationship with a few secrets. Paige is coming out a bad relationship and looking for a place and Carson just happens to be needing a roommate. While this arrangement started with a fake relationship as it progressed it didn’t feel fake anymore. With a few complications popping up for them, will their feelings be enough? This was the angst I live for and seeing them progress from the beginning was fun to listen to. And god Carson’s narrator 🫠🫠🫠 amazing. Loved this and cannot wait to continue reading and listening to what Roxanne has coming next!

Great listen
This was my first Roxanne Tully read (which I listened to via audio)- and I really enjoyed it! So many tropes I loved- forced proximity, sports, past crush and grumpy/sunshine vibes.
Cole has always been the socialite hockey star- Paige’s past crush, but she never found the courage to pursue him. Now, recovering from a bad break-up, she’s back in town and finds herself back home and suddenly roommates with her former crush. Only Cole seems a bit different than she remembers- and there is SO much more we don’t know about. And somehow these two can see each other in ways that not anyone else can.
I loved how these two fall together- slowly opening up to being friends, developing into something more, being each what the other needs, even if they didn’t know it right away. There’s a lot more emotional depth and substance to this story than I anticipated- and it added a lot of complexity to their relationship. These two have some real pain and past trauma that has greatly impacted them. I wish we’d had a bit more exploration of some of their past, but overall I enjoyed this couple
Performance: The narration was pretty solid. I didn’t love the male narrator as much as the female- I found her emotive performance to be a bit more engaging, but overall I loved the dual narration and the overall experience.

Beautiful story, I loved it.
This was so good I finished it in one sitting. Carson was the popular guy during their high school Paige never thought Carson even knew she existed. Fast forward 4 years Carson is now a professional hockey player. Paige, on the other hand, is back in Boston and wants to start over after a bad breakup and desperately needs a place to stay.
Well, as you guys may already know who offers the roommate deal. Carson and Paige's chemistry is off the charts it was there the moment they locked eyes but there's more depth in the story It's sweet not so emotional but just a perfect balance of everything. I love this book the only downfall was that it was short and the story can be further explored but then if you love quick reads with beautiful characters and a storyline this is for you.

Loved
Paige is moving back to Boston single and jobless and no clue where to go other than she wants to finish school. High school hottie and now NHL star, Carson, just so happens to need a roommate and her friends set her up to be that person. The reason why is not as expected but also makes you swoon so hard for Carson.
These two clearly have an attraction and their banter is just amazing as is the tension. And the tension is high!
Fake dating and sports romance combined was setting this book up to be fantastic. I also listened to the audio which was in DUET format and I was obsessed. I love hearing the characters have a convo with each other. It makes it feel more real and like your apart of it. The narrators were amazing! This definitely made for a day of a LOT of driving so much more enjoyable.

Great book
I loved this book when I read it the first time and I loved it when I listened to it. In the beginning Finnley Cole's narration seemed a little stiff, it could be that I just wasn't used to the cadence of his voice, After a chapter or 2 It felt more natural. I enjoyed Veronica Pace. I really liked the Duet Narration, this is not common in the books I listen to. I like it much better than when they do each others voices.
I love Paige and Carson. It was clear from the beginning that these two had eyes for each other way back in HS before they even realized it. She was the one person who could see through his facade and he could not figure her out. I love a enemies to lovers/forced proximity/fake relationship story. Paige is fresh off a bad relationship and is trying to figure out how to value herself. Both Paige and Carson have some childhood trauma that affects how they interact with other people. I love seeing them open up to each other revealing some potent trauma that they both continue to work through together. Overall this was a great story. It was not heavy with the sports theme, which I like because frankly, sometimes that really bogs down a good book. I would highly recommend you pick this up.

Loved to listen while I read and followed along
I read the book before listening and I think it just added to the appeal of the book. The voices helped bring the characters to live. It it a great book I originally gave it a 4 star when first read but once I heard and read as I heard along it made it so much more for me. Loved this story even lore then the first time around.
I still love Paige and Carson's chemistry. It is still complete fire and off the charts hot. Their animosity I think just adds to it. I am a sucker for a good grumpy/sunshine, book especially if it had a fake relationship and with a touch of mystery thrown in to keep you drawn in. This is a book you must read highly recommend.

Second chances
An exciting storyline filled with growth and turmoil, which Roxanne is well known for in her books. The excitement included within this audio was riveting, breathtaking, and passionately executed! My only complaint was the narrator for Paige did absolutely nothing for me and definitely did not “fit” Carson.
For me, this was somewhat of a reverse grumpy/sunshine story, with the female being the grinch per say. Carson is struggling with his own issues, while I felt she added to at times. Either way, this is a must read/listen!
