About this listen
One freezing night in Oslo Christmas shoppers gather to listen to a Salvation Army street concert. An explosion cuts through the music, and a man in uniform falls to the ground, shot in the head at point-blank range.
Harry Hole and his team have little to work with: no immediate suspect, no weapon and no motive. But when the assassin discovers he has shot the wrong man, Harry Hole’s troubles have only just begun. After some exceptionally shrewd detective work, the team begins to close in on a suspected hit man, monitoring his credit card, false passport and the line to his employer. With no money, only six bullets and no place to stay in the bitter cold, the hit man becomes increasingly desperate. He will stop at nothing to eliminate his target. Moving at a breathless pace, The Redeemer is Jo Nesbo’s most gripping thriller yet.

Gripping Story
I've enjoyed all the Harry Hole books that I've read, but this was one has been my favourite.
I started with the snowman and then went back to get the earliest one I could and have been listening to them in order since then. I would recommend listening in order if you can as it will obviously add to the suspense. It's very interesting to see the character develop through the books.
Beautifully read as well.

Not his best.
This started out really well and I was enjoying it a lot, but then the momentum was lost and I am not sure if I will get around to finishing it at all. Good narrator but a little too slow paced for me.

High standards with Harry Holle
Nesbo is keeping high standards in my fourth (and sixth in a series) novel starring Oslo Inspector Harry Hole, investigating murder of Salvation Army officer.
Realistic and grim, as we are used to for Scandinavian writers, with no black &white characters, and with main hero being an alcoholic - Nesbo manages to give us a main story, interwoven with few minor plots. It is almost a perfect crime novel, however somewhere in the middle I had a feeling he was trying to unnecessary make it longer. Nevertheless, despite his shortcomings (or maybe because of them) Harry stays one of the best and coolest characters in crime novels.
Unlike first three, which I read, I listened to this one from Audible, and voice of Sean Barrett added extra dimension to Hole ;)

The next Stieg Larsson?
This series is excellent! The Redeemer first, then The Snowman then The Leopard. Similar writing style and geography to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo etc, and equally thrilling, interwoven and absorbing. Can't rate it highly enough.

Brilliant
Another riveting instalment, yet again the plot is intricate and impossible to predict. I’m already looking forward to the next storyline.

amazing
so glad I listened to this as I would not have been able to pronounce half the names. Its addictive with so many twists and turns. Currently listening for a second time and new details are popping up everywhere. Even though I know who did what its a great story. Sean Barrett is a very clear soft voice that pulls you in.
