Summary

Goodreads Best Fantasy YA 2020.

The intoxicating and bloodthirsty finale to the New York Times best-selling The Cruel Prince, nominated for the Cilip Carnegie Medal 2019, and New York Times best seller The Wicked King.

After being pronounced Queen of Faerie and then abruptly exiled by the Wicked King Cardan, Jude finds herself unmoored, the queen of nothing. She spends her time with Vivi and Oak, watching reality television, and doing odd jobs, including squaring up to a cannibalistic faerie.

When her twin sister, Taryn, shows up asking a favour, Jude jumps at the chance to return to the Faerie world, even if it means facing Cardan, whom she loves despite his betrayal. When a dark curse is unveiled, Jude must become the first mortal Queen of Faerie and break the curse or risk upsetting the balance of the whole Faerie world.

Love the story and the way it’s narrated here!

Caitlin Kelly is an amazing reader. Her impressions are spot on. Always. It’s like watching a movie.
The story, of course, is just as amazing as the previous two books of the series. 10/10.

Great book series

This series is absolutely one of my favourites and I have now read and listened to all of them about three times. I would whole heartedly recommend all three of them and others by Holly Black to anyone willing to listen. The only issue I always have with the audio versions is the volume of the individual character voices being much quieter than the rest of the book, but I believe that may just be my personal preference. There was on mistake though, where I was reading along with the audio and it skipped an entire sentence twice, and they weren't short ones either.

Sad it’s over

It was a fitting end to a thought invoking trilogy. I loved the how Holly Black portrayed justice/fairness, karma/ balance, powerful women and the complexity of different relationships.

Amazing

I really really loved it, it was so goddamn good. the narrator was also amazing, I really liked the way she brought life to the characters.
Also Holly Black's writing is as good as ever, the way she builds the characters and the world and the story itself, 'chefs kiss'

Amazing conclusion!

I absolutely loved the story as a whole it was quite slow but I feel as though the audio was quite distracting. I read the other two books in print and read them both in a day or two but this took my month, I found some of the voices off-putting especially Vivi’s voice, it kind of took me out of the story. But again, I love this series and had to finish it and a great ending.

Why did the story have to end!

When you read a series and start to love the characters and then the series comes to an end, this is one of those series. I wish the author would continue this story and allow the characters to live on.

Captivating

I completed this trilogy in 5 days and would definitely do it again. One of the best trilogies I’ve read/ listened to and I’m now officially a Holly Black fan. Looking forward to checking out some of her other work. Highly recommend!

Wow! Epic tale. I wished the series would not end.

Holly, your imagination is endless. It is possible to blink my eyes, see Elfhame and believe. Kelly's voice is perfect for this epic series.
