About this listen

Captain Kidd has gone down in history as America's most ruthless buccaneer. However, Captain William Kidd was no career cut-throat; he was a tough, successful New York sea captain who was hired to chase pirates. His three year odyssey pitted him against arrogant Royal Navy commanders, jealous East India Company captains, storms, starvation, angry natives, and above all, flesh-and-blood pirates. Across the oceans of the world, the pirate hunter, Kidd, pursued the pirate, Culliford. One man would hang in the harbor; the other would walk away with the treasure. The Pirate Hunter is both a masterpiece of historical detective work and a page-turner.©2002 Richard Zacks (P)2003 Tantor Media, Inc. 17th Century Adventurers, Explorers & Survival Colonial Period Great Britain Historical Military & War Naval Forces World United States Military Pirate War England Royal Navy Imperialism Suspenseful

The Pirate Hunter

Visit the world of the real pirates of the Caribbean (and beyond) and get a salty taste of seventeenth century society and grim aspects of justice. The real thing is even more fascinating and intriguing than the fiction.

Outstanding

This is one book where I wholeheartedly agree with the positive reviews listed in the 'Critics Reviews' section above. It is thoroughly entertaining and informative and reads like a fantastic novel for the sheer adventure, twists and turns, violence, double-crossing and breadth of interesting characters throughout it. It is excellently narrated and I found myself wanting more after the 18 and a half hours. Highly recommended.

Story 5 star, narrator 5 Stars excellent loved listening to this book

Was left wanting to read / listen to more books about pirates and who what and why pirates had a code of ethical principles that no one transgressed and how and why they they became so feared by every others nation . If you only read one other book on pirates please cast and ear overs this book loved it . I had oftentimes thought that pirates were an undisciplined rabble who were easy pray for our British Royal Navy (the good guys) 😾🤡🇬🇧🤣😱😳😤🫥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇯🇪

Well composed research

Gave me a real sense of how a powerless man could be ground up by a cruel and unjust legal system.
