Excellent narrator...except when trying to do Asian accents, and then it descends into cringe. Absolutely everything else though was amazing.

really enjoyable story well told keeps going at a good clip so it doesn't get to bogged down went in expecting nothing and really enjoyed it rare glimpse into astropaths

Great horus heresy story

The story is mediocre and as far as I can tell doesn’t have too much to add to the main storyline however it goes into an unprecedented amount of detail about the astropathica and gives that mysterious part of the Imperium’s infrastructure some character.

This book also gives a great look at life on Terra right at the peak of the Imperium’s might which is as you’d imagine, sufficiently Grimdark.

All in all, a good story with some interesting characters with dimension and people you really want to succeed even if the “big reveal” that is built up is something that we already know.

The real quality of this story is the Narration of Jonathan Keeble. From the off his voice brings this book to life in a way no one else has quite managed in the Heresy Books so far. I’d recommend the listen just for him.

really good plot and easy to follow whose who right from the start.

I really like some of the accents and my only gripe is the custodies are under powered for what they are. We have seen a custodies kill 4 astartes in the time it takes the 5th to kill him. in this book they seem to be no better then astartes

Doesn’t have the usual enormous battles or crazy fights but a really solid book. Fantastic performance as usual and a great story. Not my favourite book of the series but certainly well worth listening to.

Epic book, thought it would be a little on the boring side from the synopsis but oh boy was I wrong. Amazing characters and even a rare (up until this point) dialogue form the emperor himself makes this an amazing read/listen
