About this listen

How do you know who to trust when you can't even trust yourself?

I look at my hands. One of them says, 'Flora be brave'.

Flora has anterograde amnesia. She can't remember anything day to day: the joke her friend made, the instructions her parents gave her, how old she is.

Then she kisses someone she shouldn't, and the next day she remembers it. It's the first time she's remembered anything since she was 10. But the boy is gone. She thinks he's moved to the Arctic. Will following him be the key to unlocking her memory? Whom can she trust?

The One Memory of Flora Banks is the unforgettable young adult audiobook of 2017.

Thought provoking, with gentle storyline tweaks which made me think more than I expected!

Loved it's gentle comment on what makes a life worth living. This is one of those books which worm into your head and makes you ponder what makes you you. Highly recommended. I found the way the narrator speaks in the first chapter a little irritating but this will change (and the changes make sense with the story line :-)

The ending was good

The story is good - it is a bit slow and repetitive but once you get into it then it is a very lovely heartwarming story.

loved it cannot get bored of it absolutely in love

amazing story, lovely audio can listen to it over and over again. I wish there was a sequel to what happened to flora, whether or not she got free and got treatment from the French doctor

Repetitive

I liked the premise of the book, and initially I liked how the story was told from the point of view of the person with memory loss, and therefore on occasion you find things out 'for the first time' just like Flora feels she is. However there is only so many times you can hear "I kissed Drake on a beach" before you want to rip your headphones out and throw your phone against the wall. I understand the author was trying to show Flora's frustration of not being able to remember things that have just happened, but due to the nature of the book the story was told very repetitively like this throughout, which was frustrating for the reader/listener.

Tedious In the extreme

After reading the rave reviews I tried to persevere with this book I really did but it was just sooooo boring. I listened to seven mind numbingly boring and repetitive chapters and I couldn't bear another second. Maybe I didn't listen for long enough, and maybe it would have improved, but I struggled so badly to get into it, that I had a feeling of dread whenever I thought about listening to any more of it. Why anyone thought it was tolerable, let alone good, defies me. Definitely a book for teenagers, and I am most certainly not a teenager. Hated the narration, hated the story, hated it all. Sorry Emily but this was a big fat no from me.
