Summary

Dottie and Mary forged a friendship over a bag of penny sweets when they were eight years old. They've shared everything together since then. Now, at seventeen, they're both shopgirls working at Woolworths.

As they go out in the world in pursuit of love and happiness and life becomes more complicated, the simplicity of their childhood dissolves. The heady excitement of first love will consume them both, but the pain of unintentional betrayal will test their friendship.

A true loving friendship

An amazing story from start to finish.
So funny, poignant sad it tells the story of the love and times of 2 children growing up in the 60’s Brighton
Brilliantly narrated by Rebecca. She kept me gripped to find out what was going to happen next.
I will look for other books by the same author and hopefully narrated by the same person

Lovely, heartwarming story With quite a few laughs

There Wasn’t anything that I disliked the story was beautifully written. It took me back to my youth, reminded me of things I had forgotten. Made me laugh out loud, several times very heartwarming, if a little sad

Life has a habit of taking over, like it or not.

What a beautiful raw story of how much friendship can mean to someone, life sometimes takes over & we have to deal with it. beautiful story, read well.

Lovely book

When I first listened to this book i was unimpressed and didn't rate it very well, I gave it a bad review (which I have since taken down) The reason being at that stage I hadn't realized that this book was part of a trilogy.

The first book in the series is called 'When we danced at the end of the Pier'' which was an absolutely brilliant listen with superb narration.  So after finishing  the book
'When we danced at the end of the Pier' I gave 'The girls from see saw lane'
another chance and this time around I enjoyed it so much. It really enhanced the story knowing the background of the characters from the previous book.

Currently listening to the final book in the series 'Counting Chimneys' and already I'm hooked and can't put it down.

I would highly recommend these books, they are full of so many emotions that will have you laughing and sobbing.
Enjoy  !!

Thought provoking book

Even although just a work of fiction it reminded readers of how some people in real life put others first and are selfless in their caring and giving

The girls from seaside lane

What a beautiful story, the narrator had a beautiful voice the onlt criticism I have is there were too many pauses between the chapters it didn't flow nicely apart from that I enjoyed this book. Highly recommend
