About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Two sisters have always stood together. Now, they're the only ones left.
In the shadow of Mount Hood in the US Pacific Northwest, 16-year-old Tennant is checking rabbit traps with her eight-year-old sister, Sophie.
The girls are suddenly overcome by a strange vibration rising out of the forest, building in intensity until it sounds like a deafening crescendo of screams.
From out of nowhere, their father sweeps them up and drops them through a trapdoor into a storm cellar. But the noise only gets worse....

Really enjoyed this one
I'm not normally a fan of audiobooks with music or acted scenes but with this book it really worked.
The storyline is very good - even if some of the characters' actions are far-fetched - and keeps a good pace.
Overall, an entertaining listen.

Brilliant
My first audio book and it was brilliant.
It kept me interested all the way through, with lots of twists and turns. Listened to it every chance I had. The narrative was very good and easy to follow who was speaking. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

One of his best
Extraordinary divergence for this normally prolific crime writer. Instead an incredulous story which is gripping from first page to last.

Terrible audiobook experience
I hate this style of Audiobook where there are multiple voice actors, sound effects, etc. it’s like listening to a cheap TV movie.
Why can’t we go back to someone reading the book? Why does it have to be acted out like listening to a radio play?
The story was ok, but I found the audible so off-putting it’s hard to know how good or bad the book itself is.
