Summary

On August 13, 2018, Christopher Watts murdered his pregnant wife and two toddler daughters. Cheryln Cadle contacted him and started visiting him in prison. Christopher started writing her letters from his prison cell in Wisconsin. These letters had his confessions of things he had never told anyone else. Now she shares the letters and the truth about what happened that fateful night in Frederick Colorado to Shanann, Nico, Bella, and Celeste Watts at the hands of their father. Was he just a monster or was it truly his girlfriend that he wanted to start a life with the reason he was willing to kill his family?

Surprised at how much I enjoyed this!

I read the reviews on this book and was skeptical to get it, but I am glad that I did.
An amazing look at this case from a different angle and Cadle speaks from such a neutral place.
I was gripped from beginning to end.

biased and awful

author spends house gaslighting the agony of what Shannan and her children went through by trying to pretend there was a dark force driving Sean & the rest of the time making excuses for his behaviour by victim blaming and repeating word for word the most basic inane details. This man systematically and in cold blood murdered his wife and his two (technically three) children. This author (I use the term lightly because her writing is abysmal) has given this man a soap box from which he can pour forth his cringeworthy and utterly cliche defence (blah blah dark spirit found Jesus). This man’s family bullied and undermined Shannan. They had the gall to call her unhinged meanwhile golden boy hooked on diet pills and as vain as they come murdered them. He dumped his two beautiful babies into separate oil wells. Shredding the skin off his elder girl in the process of forcing her through the 8inch hatch. I am disgusted by this author and the victim blaming, gaslighting and bias she displays. I could forgive the poor writing but she’s a traitor to a fellow woman by supporting this. She should be ashamed of herself.

Dangers of mixing Religion with Mental Health

I understand the writer is new at this crime writing thing but please take a note lady... dont mix religion with mental health issues. Chris Watts needs to be properly evaluated by Criminal Psychologist. Anne Rule had such a great, respected and thorough writing style due to the fact she kept her spirtual beliefs out of it. I found the book to be juvenile.

Victim blaming and god bothering

Ok so I got this because the case really interests me.

Couple of things, the author is very into god so a lot of this is going on about how he was possessed by dark forces and now has found god??

Secondly she says that she is not blaming the victim, and then goes on to do that at every turn painting her as a control freak who lived a fake social media life.

There is nothing here that you didn't already know aside from the letter that can be found online, this book was originally called letters from Christopher and had to be taken out of print due to plagiarism issues and the watts family saying that she twisted what was said to her, she basically admits this at the start of the book.

Interesting for his letter but not much else.

Be prepared

I knew this book was going to be very dark and detailed. The author of this book actually Writes a warning For the sensitivity and Graphic nature of this book. Still I was not prepared For the graphic nature whatsoever whatsoever it is very detailed tailed and very Psychologically hard to read. I love true crime But this has to be one of the hardest books I've ever listened to. It has been over a week since I finished this book and I still struggle With it. So please be prepared before you start listening.

How over indulgent unapologetic and narsacistic is this....

Sorry I hated and was bored by the constant bible quotes, pontificating and behaving like an exorcist and messenger of God.
He's a killer, he has no soul as he hides behind everything. He is evil and can't deal with it.

nothing new here

I decided to get this audiobook as it promised some new information. But it is the exact same as all reports of this shocking case. what a horrible crimes committed upon this family can never be imagined. The narrator was ok but didn't keep me gripped. The Netflix and other documentaries on this are better than this book.
