About this listen
Tearoom sleuth Gemma Rose is looking forward to a holiday filled with delicious Yuletide treats, time with friends and family, and maybe even a "white Christmas" in Oxford. But when she's snowed in at a country manor, she finds herself stumbling on a puzzling murder, complete with a body in the library, a house full of suspects, and a trail of mysterious footprints!
Luckily, the nosy old Biddies are on hand to help, not to mention her cheeky tabby cat Muesli. Add in some carol singing, Christmas baking, and flannel underwear, and Gemma's stocking is bursting at the seams.
Can she solve this festive whodunnit in time to enjoy the most wonderful time of year?

Anpother good one
This series continues to enchant and entertain. Not a dud among them, so far, and this one is no exception. Plus, Pearl Hewitt's marvelous narration adds to the experience.

More padding than Father Christmas
The story began sensibly but it became sillier and sillier. The main plot, as acknowledged by the author, was just like something from an Agatha Christie novel. The big reveal in the library was typical Poirot style. I guessed the murderer early on, but I missed one of the more obvious clues. The Christmas lunch at the Roses's house was pure farce, and unnecessary padding. At least we were spared Gemma being in danger and having to be rescued this time. How was it that Devlin managed to get a Christmas holiday to visit his mother when dates and holidays with Gemma were invariably cancelled, at short notice, due to his work? Why wasn't he recalled to work when there was a murder on his patch? Muesli was delightful as usual and the elderly cat looking for a new home made me cry. Some bits were laugh out loud funny but overall the standard of plotting is falling. The narrator was exceptional.

The mousse wonderful book of the year
I enjoyed this book. I read the book and loved it so jumped at the chance to get the audio book version, so glad I did because it was just as good as I remembered it. The mystery was good but it is the family gathering for the Christmas day lunch which was so memorable and I still chuckled even though I knew was going to happen.
Gemma is asked to cater for a children's Christmas party at a grand estate, along with her cat Muesli .The pair us surprised when the old biddies turn up as the the entertainment in the form of signing carols. But non of them was prepared for the prodigal son to be murdered on the very night he returns from the dead. Worse still is the fact that with a heavy snow storm set in for the night they all get trapped in the house with a killer. With Devlin away visiting his mum for Christmas Gemma falls under investigation when officer Pratt finally turns up. Leaving Gemma and the old biddies no choice but to to investigate, even if there help is seen as more meddling than helping.
I think this is one of Peral Hewitts better performance and think she did an excellent job of spreading the magical cheer around in this book.

wonderful
A lovely, mystery, series with quirky characters, a likeable heroine and a clever cat. This one is set at Christmas but it will be enjoyable at any time of the year. The story is reminiscent of an old fashioned house party murder mysteries of Agatha Christie ilk.
I loved it.

The Mousse Wonderful Time of Year
Another funny murder mystery where Gamma is pushed aside over a Christmas murder. Read brilliantly again by Pearl Hewitt.

Not one of the best
I think this was just to be a little Christmas story so I shouldn't expect much. Story was rather dull. Started off ok but just sort of faded. I didn't try to guess the perpetrator. Personal stuff and ending obvious.

Exasperation Limit Reached
I quite enjoyed the first few of these. They are easy, demand nothing of the listener and were relaxing. I should have stopped when she started getting on my nerves really. Does anyone actually believe she once held down a high-powered job? She's totally exasperating.
