Summary
A change in the circumstances of the entail leaves Elizabeth Bennet as the mistress of Longbourn, beholden to no one. Despite the tragedy that took her parents and all but one of her sisters from her, Elizabeth eventually heals, and she takes up the affairs of the estate with a flair her father never possessed. But estate ownership has its own trials, for it makes Elizabeth the target of those who might have otherwise viewed her as nothing more than a pretty vivacious girl.
When the Netherfield party arrives at the area, the family they find at Longbourn is small, composed only of Elizabeth, who has been changed by the burdens of estate ownership, and her younger sister, who has grown much, but is still immature enough to be infatuated by a handsome face. They also find that Elizabeth faces her own social trials, primarily in the figures of George Wickham, who desires an easy life, and Mr. Collins, who is offended that his father did not inherit Longbourn. It takes all of Elizabeth's fortitude to withstand the men vying for her attention, stand by her principles, and abide by her desire to marry only for the deepest love.
Yet Elizabeth must also recognize that deep and abiding love when it finds her. For in this world, nothing is perfect, and searching for perfection can lead to one letting true love pass by.

Had the chance to be really good but wasn’t
I like the idea of the story and where author could of taken this. Unfortunately this was not to be and dragged on! The narrator was what I could only describe as awful and her pronunciation of some words left me confused ‘fother’ instead of father, Ount instead of aunt and bark instead of back! The narrator voice is sickly and I wouldn’t want to listen to anything else by this narrator!! There are a lot better variations out there!

Avoid this narrator!! Plus story needs editing.
I don't write many negative reviews but here goes... The story started OK, interesting premise, but it soon started to drag. Hours and hours of flowery sentences all about how perfect Elizabeth is and how perfect Darcy is. They are perfect humans. They adore each other. 29 chapters of this waffle which could have been edited down to 15. Very little angst. The author tries to drum up some angst with Miss Bingley and Wickham as villains but when they do finally launch an evil plot it is all over in about 2 paragraphs. As for the narrator, her pronunciations are VERY odd. Someone must have told her that to sound posh and British she must pronounce "a" as "ar". Thus we have "bark" instead of "back", "marter of farct" instead of "matter of fact", "perharps" instead of "perhaps". It's very distracting! She also says "ont" instead of "aunt" (Ont Catherine, Ont Gardiner etc) and "fother" for "father". Narrator also likes to trail off at the end of each sentence. I really don't want to listen to any other books narrated by her!

Great story
I loved the premise of Elizabeth as the mistress of Longbourn and how the romance developed between ODC. Mrs. Bingley at her worst and Wickham as vengeful as ever. Mr Collins was a big surprise.
Highly recommended

If I had remembered…
This narrator is truly awful I rarely dole out anything this negative but do tell how someone with a near speech impediment does narrations for audible. So annoying and grating. I have one other book narrated by her and must have not noticed this was her again. It took away from the story.

Really great variation
I was hesitant to purchase this book due to some reviews about the narrator. I’m glad I took a chance tho! After a while I got used to the narrators style and actually appreciated her performance on several parts of the story. This variation is well written and held my attention. Super low angst, which I really appreciate!

Pleasing story
Many opportunities for angst, but fortunately the author did not drag out these situations. Issues were resolved quickly. Carolina Bingley and George Wickham were the usual bad characters. One of the major personality changes was Mr. Bingley, who was a shallow weak individual in this story.
Mr and Mrs Bennett, as well as Jane, Mary and Lydia are missing as they had all succumbed to an illness at the opening of the book. This book was worth a credit because of the plot, but the narration definitely was not well done, in my opinion. A better narrator would probably have increased the rating of the story.

A great story
This was a great story with ups and downs and full of challenges. Bingley was an idiot and his sister a bit crazy. I enjoyed it. The narrator was good.

Narrator
I’m on chapter 2 and wondering if I can stand this narrator for 16 hours… It is too soon to really tell about the overall or the story so right now I’m giving it average but I will update my review if I can make it through the book
