Story
The issue of idolatry has been with the human race for thousands of years; the subtle temptation is always to take what is good and turn it into the ultimate good, elevating it above all other things in the search for security and meaning. In this timely and challenging book, New York pastor Timothy Keller looks at the issue of idolatry throughout the Bible - from the worship of actual idols in the Old Testament, to the idolatry of money by the rich young ruler when he was challenged by Jesus to give up all his wealth.

Can't anyone teach me how to pray?"" Millions of people today are asking the same question. There is a sense of the necessity of prayer - we have to pray. But how?' Prayer is central to Christian faith; indeed, as Timothy Keller notes in his introduction, it is the main way we experience deep change. Yet so many people struggle with prayer - a struggle that the author himself has shared. This wise and inspiring book is the fruit of those struggles, offering a real and glorious vision of what it can mean to seek God in prayer.

Story
Acclaimed writer and pastor Timothy Keller grapples with the age-old question: how do we deal with pain and suffering, both in our own lives and in the world around us? The problem of pain is a perennial one, and for those who undergo particular sufferings it can often be the largest obstacle for trusting in a good and loving God. If such a God exists, why is there so much suffering in the world? And how do we deal with it when it comes into our lives?

Story
Do we work to live or live to work? In today's increasingly competitive and insecure economic environment, we often question the reason for work: Why am I doing this? Why is it so hard? And what can I do about it? Work may seem just a means to an end: we do it to earn the money to enjoy life outside the workplace. Here, Timothy Keller argues that God's plan is radically more ambitious: he actually created us to work.

In The Prodigal God, New York pastor Timothy Keller uses the story of the prodigal son to shine a light on the beautiful central message of Jesus: the gospel of grace, hope and salvation. Keller argues that the parable of the prodigal son, while Jesus' best-known parable, is also his least understood.

If God is holy, then he can’t sin. If God can’t sin, then he can’t sin against you. If he can’t sin against you, shouldn’t that make him the most trustworthy being there is? Best-selling author Jackie Hill Perry, in her much anticipated follow-up to Gay Girl, Good God, helps us find the reason we don’t trust God - we misunderstand his holiness. In Holier Than Thou, Jackie walks us through Scripture, shaking the dust off of “holy” as we’ve come to know it and revealing it for what it really is: good news.

In the beginning, God created Adam. Then he made Eve. And ever since we've been picking up the pieces. Loveology is just that - a theology of love. And about what is wrong - the fallout in a post-Eden world. Loveology starts with marriage and works backward.

Summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Reason for God.
In previous books, respected New York pastor and best-selling author Timothy Keller has looked at such diverse and topical subjects as the existence of God, our need to do justice, the meaning of Jesus' life, and the human temptation to make idols - all through the twin lenses of a biblical framework and an engagement with contemporary culture.
In this new book, coauthored with his wife, Kathy, he turns his attention to that most complex of matters: our need for love and its expression in marriage.
Beginning with the biblical narrative and its pictures of marriage that span the original ideal to the broken to the redemptive, he looks at themes of friendship and commitment; the completion of men and women in each other; singleness, sex and divorce; and ministry and discipleship within the context of marriage. This is a profound and engaging work that will challenge and inspire people in all stages of life - single, newlywed and married.

Essential Reading for Singles or Couples
As a married man of a few years now I'd say I'm not so far away from singleness that I've forgot what it was like and not too far into marriage that I think I know it all.
With that said, I found the insights and practical advise personally enlightening. There were many occasions that had me nodding in agreement, exclaiming "that's me he's talking about" or having to rewind. In fact, there was a chapter that I had to read about 3 times before moving on, due to the questions and ponderings it unearthed in me.
While I can't say it touches on every question one might have, I do strongly believe it deals with some of the most important aspects of marriage, especially how we view marriage.
I also think this will work well as a book to read with your partner but I reccomend reading it alone first so you can consider its points and wisdom.
The narrators were great, no complaints from me and listening at 1.5 speed, the man did remind me of Pastor Tim, even though the voices are quite different!
I think the length is decent, you could finish this in a week if you wanted to, though I say let it marinade over 3 weeks to get a lot out of it.
In short, buy this as a refence without hesitation!

Biblical wisdom beautifully expressed
Keller shows the beauty and wisdom of the Bible's teaching on marriage by looking at it through the lens of the gospel. Both spouses get to display a challenging Christ-like feature in marriage for the good of the other. These features can only be expressed if each accepts their God-given role.
His practical insights and exposure of idols cultures have set up cleared away a lot of wrong notions and gave me a way of approaching disagreements that will enrich my marriage.

I read the book three times (I'm a slow learner) and now, listened to it; I highly recommended it.
Lloyd James is an excellent narrator.
Timothy Keller and Kathy Keller make the theme free from confuse or ambiguity.

Enjoyed by singles too
I listened to this book first and then introduced it to the girl with whom I am exploring to be in a relationship with. She also was drawn to be truths in this book, filled with human experience and God's Word. Some parts scared her a bit but I don't regret getting things done the right (and hard) way from the start.
