Story
Keris Bradford is a woman on the brink. Of what? She doesn’t quite know. Her life is shifting, rapidly, and the sudden, captivating intrusion of Laken Kimble isn’t exactly...reassuring. For Keris, Laken is comfort and risk wrapped in one very appealing package. For Laken, Keris is barrier and providence all at once. For both, there arises a need to navigate those contrasts to a conclusion neither was looking for...a need to answer a simple question. If you want this...what are you willing to offer in exchange?

Story
Meet Heaven: a young girl who is loving, submissive, and beyond appreciative of her husband, Ross. As a teenager, Heaven lived solely for her sister, Divine, and her daughter, Sunshine. Because her mother is mentally ill and her father ran off, Heaven had to do some unimaginable things just to feed the family. Then came Ross, and everything changed. He wasn't some filthy rich, dope boy that some young girls dream of, but Heaven felt like Ross was her blessing.

If there’s any one thing Pierre and Logan have in common, it’s their ability to invite snap judgements based on shallow views of who they are. Logan is the privileged only daughter of a respected family whose legacy runs long and deep. Pierre is the moody, orphaned son of big screen royalty who couldn’t possibly live up to the prestige of his pedigree. Or maybe not.

Story
As Tampa Bay's star center, Mark Carmelo's life was hockey, and after a bitter and public break up, all he wanted to do was focus on the game. Until he saw her - the one that got away, the one he thought he'd never see again. For 13 years, Stevie West drowned in her lackluster life. Recently divorced from her “roommate” with passionless benefits, she was ready to start over on her own. Until she ran into him. The same man she'd met one year ago. For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine. I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Fascinating. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to centerstage Hollywood. From being unknown to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips. Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic, catapulting me into another stratosphere. But stars shine brightest in the dead of night.

Two long years of insults, and having to redo the coffee pot four times in the mornings to meet his exacting standards. Not surprisingly he has devoted a lot of time to increasingly inventive ways to murder Gabe. From stabbing him with a cake fork, to garrotting him with his expensive tie, Dylan has thought of everything. However, a chance encounter opens his eyes to the attraction that has always lain between them, concealed by the layers of antipathy.

Stable, safe, predictable - all words that aptly describe Professor Nadia Day’s life. An existence she’s carefully crafted for herself despite her unconventional upbringing and what, to her, is an unseemly past. The last thing she would ever do is rock the boat when it comes to her life and livelihood. When retired football player and single dad, Nathan Moore, walks into her psychology classroom, all fine and dreadlocked, he does more than rock her boat - he rocks her world and causes her to question her buttoned-up existence.

Story
I am the type of woman who always plays it safe. In my professional life as a public relations "fixer", and in my personal life, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Really, who needs the wild highs and the I-want-to-die-because-he-left-me lows of a relationship? At least, that's what I thought...until I met HIM. Damian No-Last-Name-Given is sexy as sin, and I'd developed some kind of weird, instant attraction to him the moment he settled his chiseled body next to mine on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

Summary
Boring. Invisible. Pretty for a plus-size girl. Those were all the things I felt about myself, thanks to my chosen career as an accountant and society’s depiction of the perfect female. For once, I wanted to be something - no, someone - different. So, I booked a trip to Vegas for my birthday. Then, in walked Soul Matthias, treating me and my body as anything but ordinary. He lit a fire inside of me. However, it wasn’t real.
Player. Bad boy. High-risk. That’s what the blogs depicted me as. That’s what baseball owners banked on to lowball my contract extension. I didn’t care about social media, but I definitely cared about my money. I had to get my act together. Then, in strutted Alexa Livingston. A breath of fresh air, someone completely different from what I had ever been used to. But what we had wasn’t real. It was just a marriage contract. Or was it?

A Home Run baseball ⚾️
The moment Soul and Alexa met, their attraction was insatiable, setting off immediate sparks. Albeit drunk from champagne, their chemistry is not fake and could be heard and felt emanating through my speakers and pages as the narrators acted out each scene in a this “indecent proposal”, only this proposal entails more than one night, it comes with benefits that will have any woman ready to sign on the dotted line.
Soul is sweet, very experienced, has that BDE, and treats Alexa like a Queen with respect. He gives her the assurance of comfort and safety that she can trust in him because he is a stranger after all and he’s learning that not all women are after his money or fame. While Alexa, not as experienced as Soul, she is her own woman who allows herself to be open to the possibility of him, but holds him accountable, teaching him how to treat her, not accepting anything less and definitely not like the groupies he’s used to bedding. Alexa demands respect and Soul loves her for it.
They have a natural rhythm between them and I enjoyed the ease and comfortability of their conversation with each other throughout the story and allowing insight to their inner thoughts. Both are wanting more but hesitant to express their feelings allowing doubt and hurt to fester. Our author is exploring the importance of communication in any relationship and while they are comfortable in all things, they do not admit what they feel for one another and afraid to admit to themselves that there’s more between them than money.
Navigating being strangers who are thrust into a voluntary agreement becomes less about image for him and less about money for her. Soul has lite a fire of desire in Alexa and the sex is off the rails, that’s tastefully done, not over the top with the right amount of eroticism and they cannot get enough of each other. Alexa is taking all that she can from him mentally and physically while pouring herself into him, she understands this is temporary but with each moment they fall harder.
Alexa and Souls are changing within themselves and in turn are changing each other feeding the need to have someone care for you unconditionally and learning the things they didn’t want or desired are now becoming the things they cannot be without…Love. Not even the skepticism and jealousy of Family and friends could stop what was happening between them and I was so proud when Alexa finally stood up and checked her hating disrespectful sister, she has endured her ridicule far too long.
With feelings on high, their time comes to and end, it becomes clear life would have to go back normal, but what is normal. Neither recognized their old life anymore or life without each other. Will Alexa leave and will Soul let the best thing in his life go because surely a handsome rich man and a regular everyday woman could never fall in love…right?
This was a fanciful read by Shay Davis who created lovable characters in this feel good story that is arousing to the mind and sizzles in your soul where all the romance resides. It was entertaining and engaging from the prolong to the end. The story flowed nicely with the an interesting plot and theme that was depicted and narrated portraying enticing scenarios demonstrated and articulated very well.
Narration
The narrators brought the thunder in this full cast staring Wesleigh Siobhan as Alexa; Emmanuel Ingram as Soul; Winston James as Andrew, Elle Cleviden as mama and Madison C. Marie as Candace, who gave outstanding performances in their own right portraying their respective characters impressively. They breathed life into the them demonstration a range of emotions while showcasing their acting talents allowing your imagination to visualize every moment through their verbal articulation. This was beautifully executed and narrated and very well produced.

HOME RUN
I knew I would enjoy “The Marriage Contract” once I glanced at the narrators, Wesleigh Siobhan & Emmanuel Ingram. …two of my FAVORITEs! This phenomenal combinations can make even burnt bacon taste like BBQ, and hell I’m a vegetarian‼️ …this book could easily be a movie (TV and or theatre). I love the depths you invest into each character. Weather I admire and or detest any character(s), by the end of a book my feelings (justified) are equal as vested. Likewise, both Alexa and Soul are two characters I thoroughly enjoyed. …Congratulations Ms Davis on this novella, you definitely scored a home run & grand slam: content, characters, passion, representation & sexy‼️ …even love & romance is NOT just an average day at the ball field‼️

Lovely narrative… narrators are all A1 as usual. I particularly love the dialogue format (the call/answer varying the voices for each character in each scene. Also, I like the constant reminder and references to disparities when it comes to the black community- an always relevant theme!

Full cast performance, like a play!
I absolutely loved the real time interaction of the cast in this audiobook. Unlike most audiobooks where the male characters read the female character lines and vice versa, in this book each character reads their own lines like in a play. If you do not know, Wesleigh Siobhan and Emmanuel Ingram are a dynamic duo. It’s truly a performance!
