The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

Summary
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him.
Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere.
But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.
The man who killed my son.
My friends and family can’t understand it. My neighbours whisper in the street whenever I walk past. How can I love a man like Tom?
They don’t really know me at all....
The most enthralling psychological thriller you’ll listen to this year from the best-selling author K.L. Slater. If you love The Wife Between Us or Gone Girl, you’ll be totally hooked on The Marriage.

Good but Inconsistent
Quite a few discrepancies with this. for example.. the main character goes to Jail at 18. 10 years later he is released and can drive? There are other inconsistencies too. But they are weak enough to be ignored and on the whole the premise is good.

Awww, what a riveting storyline. Had me hooked right from the beginning. The book kept me interested all the way through and I never guessed the outcome before it was revealed. I like a good thriller, this wasn't a thriller, this was a drama, no let's call it what it was a soap opera. No intensity, no real story, no twists. I almost stopped listening it was so bland. Save your credit if your looking to do anything but use it to help you sleep.

There was nothing overly special about this story. The twist was decent but other than that, it wasn’t all that exciting. It did hold my interest enough to finish it so it wasn’t a waste of a credit. I just wish it had more WOW to it.

Slater has written better..
The Marriage by KL Slater was a mediocre psychological thriller. The 'psychological thriller' part took a long time to get started, and I started to wonder if this element would ever present itself.
Two moms, each with a son the same age, are best of friends. Their friendship abruptly ends when their sons get into an altercation which results in the death of one, and the manslaughter charge of another. Ten years later, the convicted son marries his late best friend's mother, regardless of their past and their twenty plus years age difference.
The story is fairly absurd and the ending is not the greatest, but Lucy Price-Lewis does a phenomenal job of narration as per usual, and Slater is a talented author for this genre so I would still recommend the book.

Interesting premise but so Slow..
I enjoyed the performance from the narrator, she made the story worth it in the end. However, I was waiting for the book to get to the interesting part and I waited.. and waited. It was a struggle to not give up and start a new book but once I start a book, I finish it. After all was said and done, it was an okay book.
