The brand new series from Zoe Sugg and Amy McCulloch

Illumen Hall is an elite boarding school. Tragedy strikes when the body of a student is discovered at their exclusive summer party - on her back is an elaborate tattoo of a magpie.

When new girl Audrey arrives the following term, running from her own secrets back home in America, she is thrown into solving the case. Despite her best efforts to avoid any drama, her new roommate Ivy was close to the murdered girl, and the two of them can't help but get pulled in.

The two can't stand each other, but as they are drawn deeper into the mystery of this strange and terrible murder, they will discover that something dangerous is at the heart of their superficially perfect school.

Welcome to The Magpie Society.

One for Sorrow will be told via the alternating first person perspectives of the lead characters Audrey - written by Amy - and Ivy - written by Zoe - with the narrative being jointly plotted by both authors.

Excellent Read

Wow what a book, I couldn't stop listening!
struggled a little with the narrator's to begin with but the story quickly compensates. Excellent story line, great twists and can't wait for the next one.

Decent story

The establishing of the story and characters is great but it takes a while to get good. I would have preferred to feel more of the characters' emotions'. I felt like they are quite 2 dimensional and lack that emotional touch. The story has great potential but needs a bit more speed and more climax.

I so far never listened to an audio with two actors voicing two characters which at first I liked, but then it got a but frustrating especially when both actresses were doing the same two characters in different accents. I just don't understand why the hassle of having two actors when they're both going to do the Eng/American accent.

Mostly good

I enjoyed this story and thought the performance was good. It was let down by the sudden and inconclusive ending though, quite frustrating and would make me think twice about buying a follow-up book

Very catching

I enjoyed this first book. Very intriguing and catching. I really need to read the 2nd book now cause the story is nowhere near finished.

Not sure what to think ....

I really enjoyed the story and the narration was great. I’m unsure about the ending though. It’s a clear cliff hanger to a second book but I think there should have been more to the ending and some more ends tied up.

3nding

I was really excited for this and I got into it, the story progresses well and you get behind the leading characters. In saying that, the ending was disappointing. Nothing was resolved and there wasn't a big enough of a cliff hanger.

Well-narrated but weak story

Following in the footsteps of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, S.T.A.G.S. and One of Us is Lying was never going to be easy and sadly this book was disappointing. There was the start of a good plot but it never seemed to go anywhere and it was too predictable. Good narration though.

This was my first audio book

I downloaded audible to listen to Zoe and Amy’s first book together. The story had me hooked. I thought the audio book was fantastic and it felt more realistic when listening to the podcast as opposed to reading it on text in a book. The story was very good, clever and although I guessed things v early on, probably due to my constant watching of murder tv shows etc, I think most people will enjoy this. I can definitely see it being a film or a tv show. It was very good. I was naive to think I would find out who killed Lola in this book however the plot was extremely interesting and I cannot wait to read the next. I assume will be called two for joy.
