About this listen

Two outsiders. Two secrets.

David Piper has always been an outsider. His parents think he's gay. The school bully thinks he's a freak. Only his two best friends know the real truth - David wants to be a girl. On the first day at his new school, Leo Denton has one goal - to be invisible. Attracting the attention of the most beautiful girl in Year 11 is definitely not part of that plan. When Leo stands up for David in a fight, an unlikely friendship forms. But things are about to get messy. Because at Eden Park School secrets have a funny habit of not staying secret for long....

A story every parent and young perso needs to hear

A moving account of the challenges facing young people in general and trans people in particular. An absolute must listen/read, in my opinion, for every parent.

A story you wouldn’t pick after reading the first page

The plot was really good in the middle but felt really rushed towards the end of the text. I loved the relationship between Leo and David but David’s character felt really needy and Leo felt like your atypical teenage boy, which I know is the whole point of his character but it was so over exaggerated. My favourite character was Libby because she said what we would have all said in the moment.
Honestly the change in scenery was quite sudden you had about a page to prepare for it then boom your in Kent. Overall I found the book really boring and rushed but I appreciate not everyone would agree with me.
