Summary
Dieter Hess, an aged spy, is dead, and John Bachelor, his MI5 handler, is in deep, deep trouble. Death has revealed that the deceased had been keeping a secret second bank account - and there's only ever one reason a spy has a secret second bank account. The question of whether he was a double agent must be resolved, and its answer may undo an entire career's worth of spy secrets.

Really just one part of a full book
There’s another booklet out there which leverages off this one. The Marylebone Drop. And then, rounded off in The Catch, I believe. So overall you wind up paying a bit each time for what amounts to just one audiobook, which really should be available as a single book you could get for one credit. Best to listen to them in order, though oddly, they still work if you read them in reverse order.

Sweet look at part of Slough House world
This short story with insight into Slough House and the mistakes made by employees not relegated to Slough House. I really enjoyed this but I think only readers who are already familiar with Slough House will appreciate it.

So Many Good Book . . . .
don't know why I missed a great one! I have followed the Slough House series and really enjoyed them. So I was really excited when I found this and three other Mick Herron novels on Audible. The plot is sharp and the story plays out smoothly. Narration was great. Looking forward to more in the future

Short story
This is a great story and introduces JK Ko as a fledgling character. This said, don’t inadvertently use a credit or you will be annoyed by the brevity of the story. If you are like me, obsessed with the Slough House series, go directly to Amazon, select Audible option and purchase for about $6.00. Avoid kicking yourself and enjoy a little more Lamb.

Nice little short one.
Short story but devilishly cleverly written and read. Great ending of a bit abrupt! Recommended.

Another excellent little story of espionage.
Herron is writing some of the best spy stories of the last 20 years. Now that might not seem like much because most of the finest ones were done before then, but that's just most. These are not the sort of spec ops thrillers which get most of the credits like the excellent Mitch Rapp or John Wells books do. These are books about the system, planning, climbing and covering of the intelligence business. Though this is just a short story, and Jackson Lamb and his stable of horses are a supporting cast, it was a very satisfying handler and asset tale.

very short, but as usual, well written, and great narration
very short, but as usual, great storytelling, and great narration. Knowing it was that short, I might have skipped it and gone onto the next in the series.

Don’t waste a credit on this
Although well written, a short story is not worth the full credit. I will more closely research before next time.

The best in the series so far
I only wish it was longer. Doesn’t sound like someone typed it out over text message like the first book. Doesn’t go excessively into Lamb’s crudeness, either. More philosophical.

great short story
definitely has the qualities and foundation of a much longer tale, but ends leaving the reader to complete the narrative. I also have to mention that the continuing character development is great. I don’t think I have ever run across a curmudgeon quite like jackson lamb.
