Enjoyable ........................................

I have enjoyed all three of these books. Narrator was very good reader and the way she could change her voice to each character.

A good epic story but final instalment a bit rushed

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book trilogy and will probably listen to again. However I have to say that this final one felt a little rushed and predictable in the end. It felt as though the author was trying to tie up the considerable amount of lose ends as quickly as possible. There were also some parts of the story that lost their depth and intensity for me, one minute something was said to be kept a secret forever and literally a couple of chapters later that same person had spilled the beans directly, it felt like the author had lost inspiration and imagination for how to tie up the lose ends in more of a story and just gave in to telling it straight so this was quite disappointing.
I stand by my earlier reviews of the other books however in that I think the story would work exceptionally well as a TV adaptation. All the way through I have likened it to Downton Abbey and can just see it playing out on the screen really well and perhaps enabling a little more substance to be built around the characters.
I would recommend this book and also have to give excellent praise to the narrator who is definitely the best I have listened to yet. There were so many characters in this book and she never failed to narrator all the different voices. They were all very distinguishable and if ever I missed who was talking I always knew anyway due to the voice. An exceptional performance and I will look out for more by this narrator!

Perfect End to the Trilogy

I just loved all three of these books about the Deveril family. This final story had me on the edge of my seat at times. I'm sad I've finished but so glad I read them. Wonderful characters and I can't praise the narrator enough for bringing them all to life. A very hard act to follow.
