Summary

Denver detective Jake McCoy is trying to recover - both physically and emotionally - from the shooting death of a young boy that also left her injured. She soon finds herself rehabbing at her cabin in the mountains, soaking in the remote natural springs - which is exactly where psychologist Nicole Westbrook vacations and soon stumbles across her....

When Nicole leaves the next day, the two women know little more about the other than her first name - yet they are now lovers instead of strangers.

When Jake returns to Denver, a serial murder investigation soon leads her to Nicole. As the investigation develops, their physical attraction threatens to compromise the case. Nicole finds herself struggling to remain in the professional closet that she's been hiding in for so long - a place where an out cop like Jake McCoy simply does not belong.

Once the crimes are solved, will the women go their separate ways? Or will the physical attraction and the gentle tug of love prove that opposites do attract....

A not-so-dark thriller

The story was interesting, a little cliché in places, but not in a bad way as that was what I was hoping for. Well read by the narrator, slowly falling in love with Abby and will rest literally anything she narrates. Definitely worth a read if you want a thriller that's not too gruesome

Suspense

I enjoyed this book. It was nice having the suspense and wondering who the serial murderer is. I must admit I got goose bumps three times in this book. I couldn’t put it down.

I must admit I loved Jake and the other characters, but Nicole wound me up quite a lot especially at the end, but that is not to say she’s not a good character, but at times she comes across as arrogant in my opinion.

I enjoyed Abby Craden doing the narration, as she always does a fantastic job and adds to the story.

Plot twist!

This is one of the really good ones. Great performance as always, too. Read this one before The Target (character cameos).

The Killing Room by Gerri Hill
5/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This story was brilliant; it was unquestionably a page-turner. The book is partly set in the Rocky Mountains and Denver. I love the sound of the Rocky Mountains scenery and would love to hike them someday.

The story begins when Detective Jake McCoy is taking some time for rehab after a shooting. I can relate to Jake’s frustration with her injury and how it kept her from returning to regular hikes. She meets psychologist Dr Nicole Westbrook, who is lost hiking. The two begin their narrative with a seductive first encounter.

The two women go back to their regular routines in Denver with the view of never meeting again. Soon, a murder investigation brings them together on a hunt for the serial killer. Then, the action keeps coming; I found it hard to stop reading. With so many twists and turns, it was easy to become engrossed with the storyline. I found Jake and Nicole’s characters likeable and was routing for them to get together. However, with Nicole still in the closet for the sake of her professional career, she struggles to be honest about her feelings for Jake.

About time!

Looking for a new book, I search led by user reviews. This book at great reviews so thought I would give it a go!!! So refreshing to have a female/female love affair. Not something I find often being part of the LGBTQ community! The story line was great and the narration was delivered well! Written and told in such a way that the love between the characters made my own heart ache.

How sometimes the one thing that we are forced to do over rules who we should be

Dislike as ever I need more and also it's the first book ever to make me cry, Chapter 65 to 69 I just cried, but to understand why chapter 1 to 64 are everything and like a roller coaster you need the highs to power the lows.

Liked Gerri Hill is phenomenal at writing books that keep you hooked and along with Abby Cradon and her way of giving life to the characters, these two are like thunder and lightning.
