About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Ignored. Overlooked. But they're about to prove everyone wrong...
Janet Pimm is used to being invisible. 70 something, with her beloved allotment for company, she simply doesn't need anyone else.
But when the local council threaten to close the allotments, Janet will do anything she can to try to save them - even enlisting the help of her irritatingly upbeat and interfering neighbour, Bev.
As the two women set off on a journey together, Janet begins to realise that perhaps she isn't so happy to blend into the background after all. And that maybe there's more to Bev than she first thought. As they fight to save the place Janet loves most, both women find their voice again and no one can silence them now...
A story of friendship, community spirit and the importance of connection.

An incredibly well-written book that feels like a lesson in plants, women’s health, and self respect, whilst still having you smiling, laughing, and crying throughout.
I covered this audiobook over two days.
On one walk to work, I ALMOST cried. (I stopped myself because I can’t be crying in the streets like that).
The next day at work, after finishing it, I found myself laughing over remembering something that had happened.
It has it all.
Despite this, I still feel a certain grounding since finishing the audiobook. I see my mother through these characters and feel like I’ve been told things about her that she probably won’t ever feel the need to tell me about because, to her, it’s just normal, but to me it’s understanding why she’s sweating in a cold room and becoming frustrated by all the lackadaisical advice I know she’s been given just because nobody cares enough to try and do better. May this book be a step in many’s lives to care just a little more.
Brava.
