Many mistakes + overbearing background music

Deaver Brown often stumbles over his words and mispronounces English words that he seems unfamiliar with. There is also a very loud background music playing at all times which detracts greatly from the story. I suggest finding another version and avoiding this one.

Ruined by the worst reading

Completely ruined by poor reading without any inflection and an unnecessary overly of music. Don’t waste your money. Check you like the reader before buying an audible book

Please don't.

The production of this is absolutely awful .... and the reader is terrible .

I think the narrator showed up without ever reading the book ....stumbling and pointless.

Read the reviews please!

Wish I had read the reviews, this must be the worst audio book ever. Put aside the continuous terrible music, it would make any audible book bad but the narration…it’s not cause the guy is American, I’ve heard great narration of overtly British books done extremely well by other nationalities. This guy just sounds drunk, he stumbles his way through the book sometimes taking 3-4 tries at some words. In the first chapter struggling on the word neglected and eventually replacing it with the word negativity. And on it goes, unlistenable but to leave a review you have to listen to a certain amount. Please avoid.

Story is great, narrator and background music not

Wodehouse is brilliant, although these short stories aren't as good as his longer Jeeves and Wooster ones.
Narrator is rubbish- I just can't get used to an American Bertie! And the incredibly annoying background music throughout 😡
All in all this version is not worth buying.

Awful music

This performance was rendered unbearable by intrusive background music. The American accent of the narrator was also inappropriate for the book. I didn’t get past the first 5 minutes

Avoid if you enjoy Wodehouse

As other reviewers have said this recording has two problems, the narrator and the dreadful background music. I wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing. Whoever thought of using an American narrator for a quintessentially English novel needs to think again before recording another of the normally very funny Jeeves and Wooster series. It was not the narrator's fault either that he had to compete with the rather loud background music which also makes it incredibly difficult for the listener to concentrate on the story. I gave up at the start of Chapter Two. I consider this a waste of money and am surprised to find this recording among the normally excellent productions provided by Audible. Fortunately I have the book in another electronic form and shall no doubt enjoy it in comparative silence which is only interrupted by my snorts of laughter..
