About this listen
Some people are in.
On the last Saturday in August, politicos and socialites trade tidbits of gossip and sips of Pimm's under the tasteful bunting of a Richmond garden party. They'd never guess that the police are just a stone's throw away, pulling a body out of the river Thames.
Some people wish they were.
The drowning appears to be a tragic accident - until Detective Caius Beauchamp gets an unexpected tip. The victim, it seems, had enemies in high places. Did being on the wrong side of them get her killed?
Either way, being out is absolute murder.

'Confirms Charlotte Vassell as one of the most exciting new voices in crime fiction. A must for fans of Susie Steiner or Belinda Bauer, the Caius Beauchamp novels are fresh, funny, occasionally furious and I can't wait for the next instalment.' Erin Kelly

Good story well told
The is story woven in history and literature whilst also showing human frailties for the better and in their worst formations.
The audio version very listenable now that the narrators have been changed from those in the first book where the story had not been enacted in the best light. Looking forward to the third book.

Odd title for a very entertaining read.
I really enjoyed this. Not at all what I'd expected. A crime thriller that is obviously part of a series as there are ongoing stories. I hadn't read the first one but that didn't stop my enjoyment or understanding of events. It's not gory or gruesome so would probably appeal to fans of Richard Osman. It has characters that you really root for. The narrators are both excellent. I'm going to get the first one now and look forward to the next in series.

Love the balance of posh and urban characters - a modern murder mystery
The new male narrator is brilliant! (And the female narrator was always great) Loved the book, can’t wait for the next in the series. Very enjoyable read.

Great plotting and characters
Enjoyed book 1 but book 2 even better. Really well rounded characters and a propulsive story with no dull moments. Looking forward to book 3!

Excellent plot writing
It was engaging all the way throughout the book as you uncover small bits and pieces and things start to fit together - love cast of characters too!
