Summary

In Epheria, you are the predators. Here, you are the prey.

Almost four hundred years have passed since the fall of The Order. Four hundred years since the empire rose. Four hundred years since the last dragon egg hatched.

In the icy wasteland of Valacia, Aeson Virandr searches for the one thing that could turn the tide of war: hope. But there is a reason no soul has ever returned from Valacia.

Hope comes at a cost—one that can only be paid in blood.

The Ice is a companion novella to The Bound and The Broken series. It is not a standalone. Previous books in the series should be listened to first.

Brilliant addition

A wonderful novella to add to Ryan's already near perfect body of work. Great characters we already love with new ones that will probably appear in future novels. The series with novellas are a must read for fantasy fans

A good nugget of backstory that compliments the series.

The Ice provides some nice additional story to the world that adds to a number of the characters we’ve met so far.
It also provides some tantalising reveals and connections that create a broader understanding and mystery of the world and those in it.

A very enjoyable time (in a more bite size package - when next to mainline entries in the season). Well worth if you’re already enjoying the series at large.

Perfect fix of The Bound and The Broken series

Perfect fix of The Bound and The Broken series, I really liked the deeper insight and history of Aeson, I like him again now after growing to dislike him when reading Of War and Ruin.

I feel like this has opened a lot of different avenue’s to which the next book can go.
