About this listen
Now a major motion picture from director Ridley Scott starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver
The sensational true story of murder, madness, glamour, and greed that shook the Gucci dynasty, now fully updated with a new afterword
On the morning of March 27, 1995, four quick shots cracked through Milan’s elegant streets. Maurizio Gucci, heir to the fabulous fashion dynasty, had been ambushed, slain on the steps to his office by an unknown gunman. Two years later, Milan’s chief of police entered the sumptuous palazzo of Maurizio’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani - nicknamed “the Black Widow” by the press - and arrested her for the murder.
Did Patrizia kill her ex-husband because his spending was wildly out of control? Did she do it because he was preparing to marry his mistress? Or is it possible Patrizia didn’t do it at all?
The Gucci story is one of glitz, glamour, and intrigue - a chronicle of the rise, near-fall, and subsequent resurgence of a fashion dynasty. Beautifully written, impeccably researched, and widely acclaimed, The House of Gucci is a pause-resisting account of high fashion, high finance, and heartrending personal tragedy.

Brilliant listen .. Can't wait to see the movie
The author captures the whole time and feel, of the mindset that Gucci conveyed.
Sad, though in part talented individuals.
A rollicking good book.

epic!
a long and sordid story. Well worth the 16 + hours required to listen to the whole Gucci saga.

I found it tiresome.
I suppose as i dont speak italian it was exhausting trying to work out who's who. I did google the Gucci family so i had some idea of the family tree. But It just went on and on . I lost the will to live by thd end. So gave up.

Tedious recounting of an interesting family story
I am an aficionado of biographies and family histories and love to delve into the fine detail of the lives of others - for instance Robert Caro's life of LBJ in 5 volumes is a favourite - however this book never gets beyond tedious. The story of the Gucci family should have been intriguing but Sara Forden just doesn't capture it for me. I tried my best to stick with it but had to give up after 4 hours of listening. Narration isn't great either - everyone is given the same Italian accent except for Paulo's second wife who has some sort of Coronation Street English accent. Hope the film is more interesting.
