A juicy, powerful listen featuring twin sisters who have drifted apart and the shocking family secrets that bind them.... Robin and Sarah weren't the closest of twins. They weren't even that similar. But they loved each other dearly. Until, in the cruellest of domestic twists, they were taken from one another. Now in her early 30s, Robin lives alone. Agoraphobic and suffering from panic attacks, she spends her days pacing the rooms of her house. The rest of the time she watches - watches the street, the houses, the neighbours.

Story
I haven’t lived here long. The house is small and a little run-down, but each piece of faded floral wallpaper I peel away feels like unwrapping the second chance I never thought I’d get. I’m finally free to wear what I want, and I don’t flinch when I accidently burn dinner. My new home is warm, and the kids are safe inside. Anywhere would feel idyllic after the nightmare marriage I’ve just escaped.

Story
I’ve fallen in love with a man called Sam. And he’s perfect, just perfect. It’s a whirlwind romance. And when our dream home falls through just before our wedding, we decide to move in with his parents. He says his mother, Evelyn, is the sweetest person. But I’m not so sure. She’s obsessively protective over Sam. She wants to know where he is all the time. She wakes us up in the morning, bustling into our room like he’s a small child, not a grown man. She doesn’t want me to be alone with him.

Especially for Julian, who after a lifetime as a carer was thrust into the public eye following the tragic murder of his first wife. The languid heat and peace of the villa is broken only by clifftop walks, sun-drenched lunches and cooling swims. The day my path crossed with Simon Fox I thought I’d already lost everything, but then he almost ran me off the road with his flash car and belittling jibes. The men in my life had undermined me for too long. Enough was enough. Fuelled by alcohol and the desire to get even, I decided a spot of petty vandalism would make me feel a whole lot better. Wrong. Very wrong. I hadn’t realised that Simon Fox was not a man to be messed with.

Critic reviews
"What would you do if you found your own name on a hit list? Seddon addresses this terrifying question in an explosive novel. One of the most exciting, brave and clever books I have ever read. The Hit List is my book of the year." (Gillian McAllister, author of How to Disappear)
"This novel kept me guessing to the end. A twisty, intelligent thrill ride. Excellent!" (Will Dean, author of Black River)
"This meticulously plotted novel will suck you ever deeper into its dark underbelly. Sinister, clever and utterly compelling." (Lesley Kara, author of Who Did You Tell?)

Giving up!
I was really looking forward to this, from the summary it sounded really promising, but unfortunately I am going to give up and return it.
The main character is dull, boring and feels far to sorry for herself! There is just no get up and go to her, and its just dragging the whole story down. She is making me feel depressed and miserable listening to it.
I cant tell if she is happy, angry, scared, nervous because her self pity and misery is overshadowing everything. No wonder someone wants her dead, to put her out of her misery

Really good listen
This is the third Holly Seddon I have read any have enjoyed them all. She is able to create interesting and unusual plots which keep the listener gripped. This book took a while to get into and I almost gave up but stuck with it and glad that I did. The narration was very good and to see things from Marianne and Sam's perspective was interesting. I would say that the end was a bit disappointing and took some believing, but overall a good listen.

Good but ...
If the story and narration were a colour it would very grey. I kept listening as it really is a good story and I was curious as to what happens but I did struggle a bit with the tone and flat pace. Unfortunatly I couldnt bond with the characters so I fazed off a bit in parts but I did finish it but not memorable
