Summary

All Highland warrior Gavin Patrick wants is to get back to his native Scotland. Before Gavin leaves the battlefield, he's given a final mission - escort Lady Marie Colette to her fiancé. Under no circumstances is he to lay hands on the beautiful heiress...no matter how desperate the temptation.

Forced to pose as a married couple to escape from France, Gavin and Marie Colette find themselves thrown into peril...and each other's arms. As the danger mounts, so does forbidden passion. It isn't until Marie Colette is taken from Gavin that he is forced to decide if he is willing to lose the woman who stole his heart or jeopardize his honor, defy his promise, and steal her in return.

A perfect audiobook

Any additional comments?

This is one of those books that lends itself so well to audio. The plot is well paced, interesting without being too complicated, and with great main and supporting characters. The storyline is adventurous, with many laugh-out-load comedic moments, but is overall a gentle, beautiful love story.

It is superbly read by Mary Jane Wells, who is fast becoming one of my favourite narrators. In fact, I cannot think of another who would have done this book justice. Wells is particularly gifted when it comes to accents, and her skills were certainly put to the test with this book. The main characters are a Scottish highlander and a French noblewoman, and Wells switches seamlessly between English, Scottish and French accents throughout the entire book. I was very surprised not to notice any stumbles. This is the fourth book narrated by Wells that I have listened to, and I am so happy that she is starting to get better quality books to read.

I also recommend If The Earl Only Knew by Amanda Forester, and will be checking out the second book in the Highland Trouble series immediately!

The Best Romance and Adventure

Best Narration! Story full of charm, humor and Romance through fantastic characters. Brilliant to the end. As a Christian who also loves romance novels, this author does them best because there is never any overly graphic sex scenes. God is always included in the relationships. Love it!

Enjoyable Story

Loved the Highlander based story, even tho starts in France. Male narrator would've been better.

Great book!

This is the first book I listened to by Amanda Forester. I loved it and can not wait to listen to the next one. I loved the narration. A bad narrator can make the best book terrible. Mary Jane Wells does a wonderful job with every book she narrates. You will not be disappointed!

Great to visit the Highlands again.

The Highlander’s Bride by Amanda Forester
Narrated by Mary Jane Wells
Series: Highland Trouble Book 1

4 Stars - I picked up this book because it was narrated by Mary Jane Wells. She is a favourite of mine and in this story she did not disappoint. I enjoyed the chemistry and banter between Gavin and Colette. The story ran smoothly and the secondary characters were fully developed and a wonderful addition. I have not read this author before, but I will be sure to look for her backlist. It was great to visit the highlands again… I feel like it's been a while!

Not very steamy but good story and writing

A welcome relief among other historical romances that I have recently found to have distractingly poor writing and/or highly implausible stories. I love this voice artist, who does a variety of accents well.

Beautiful

Such a sweet story. If you are looking for not very steamy, this is for you. They are just such an adorable pair of people. I'm not sure why it has politics and danger in its description. Some, not much at all.
My favorite narrator too.
