She survives years of training in spite of being unconventional: adopting poisonous bats as familiars - something no one else would dare to do; choosing the blow dart as her weapon of choice - a weapon the Sisters don't teach; and relying on intuition rather than logic. As she completes her training, the Shadow Sisters are under attack and send Ryana out to find out who is killing Sisters and why.

Very Tolkien classic adventure
This book felt like i was reading a lost manuscript for Terry Goodkind's The Sword of Truth series spiced up with a bit of Tolkein's The Hobbit with the defined lands and classic elder figure there for guidance and protection from the far too dangerous.
That is right up until about the last half of the book where the lore started feeling a bit more for this series. I was interested in the plight of the people, the wars and histories, the abilities and skills shown by the figures of the land. things started rising upwards happily.
It could use some development/realism with the characters but a decent read if you like an adventurous travel story

An entertaining book
I’m currently on the 3rd book. I was a little hesitant at first, but I like this series. To me it’s a little reminiscent of Raymond Feist’s Riftwar saga which have been favorites of mine for years. I find it well balanced between action and dialogue. The story keeps me listening long after I plan to stop.
I’ve come to care about these characters which is important to me as a reader.

This first book has been a delight to listen to. The narrator is obviously a professional and he makes the dialog come to life. The characters are gripping just the way an epic fantasy stories characters should be. Cant wait for books two and three and beyond. Wonderful find!

this is ADD
the whole book is James Cameron what’s in the box.
and it would work usually but it miss the hook at the start so it keeps on pulling form one event to the next and not resolving any hopping you forget the others.
As for being a hidden godling ever one knows his face where to find him and really loves to rub it in that he knows nothing and now is not the time to ask........ but dose so anyway. I would not mind If it was NOT 1/2 of the book dose this to him.
