Summary

Ghosts that reside in an antique store become concerned when new items arrive with no spirits attached. Together they try to unravel a haunting mystery while sharing their own stories, forming an unlikely family.

My name is Mary Worthington. I was born August 4, 1895 in Wilmington, Delaware. I died on January 15, 1974 in Richmond, Virginia. When I died, my daughter Elizabeth acquired my belongings. Decades later, after sorting through some keepsakes—precious jewelry I had wanted her to have and childhood photos—she sold the rest of my personal items to a local antique dealer in Culpeper, Virginia. As I tell you this, one of the store patrons has just picked up my brass hand mirror. Each time an inquisitive shopper picks up that mirror or any of the other items of mine from days past that rest among the booth shelves, I am summoned back. But I am not alone. There are dozens of us now. We move silently and discreetly among the many living patrons of the Culpeper Antiques store on Route 29.
