Summary
The first three interconnected stand-alone fairy tale retellings from the Four Kingdoms series
Book 1 - The Princess Companion: A Retelling of The Princess and the Pea: This retelling of the classic fairy tale The Princess and the Pea reimagines the risks and rewards that come when one royal family goes searching for a true princess.
Book 2 - The Princess Fugitive: A Reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood: In this reimagining of the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, the girl in the red hood has been swallowed up by the wolf and must decide if she's willing to fight for her freedom, no matter the cost.
Novella 2.5 - Happily Ever Afters: A Reimagining of Snow White and Rose Red: Sarah and Evelyn have already risked everything to help Ava win a crown. But they soon learn that a coronation is a beginning, not an ending. Not everyone in Rangmere is happy to see the young queen on the throne, and intrigue and danger lurk all around.
The cousins find themselves fighting not only for their new kingdom but also for their own survival in the royal court. When a new threat emerges, the two girls must defeat it to both save the crown and secure their own happily-ever-afters.

Really enjoyable
This is a fun series. An interesting nod to the old fairy tales but with a new twist and with some strong female lead characters.
Well narrated too - just the right emphasis and easy to tell the characters by the voices used.
Enjoyed it so much I’m moving straight to the next series.

Not What I Expected
I really enjoyed this. The main characters run throughout the 4 stories which ensures a smooth transition into next. There's just a sort of a nod to the fairytale stories we know but I love the author's take on them. Give it a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

A great take on classic fairytales.
The plot:
I really like the strong female characters and how they are so funny, polite and kind. Melanie Cellier has done a fantastic job presenting the classic fairy tales we all know as reimbursed interesting, new stories. I generally only listen to books more than 7 hours and these three were all quite long which was good.
The narration:
Esther Wane did a great job narrating this book. She really emphasises the right parts and I think that she really suits the characters that she voices. Esther does just the right voice for each character and I really enjoyed the book.
I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and I am so glad it’s on the plus catalogue.

great first audible selection
the first book was great I hung on every word. the 2nd book took me a little longer since the character was from the first book and she wanst my favorite (you'll understand if you read this).
but it hooked me. the reader did an amazing job with changing her voice for each character.
I'm off to buy the 2nd set haha
happy reading

Okay so I’m not a big reader but these books are perfect, not predictable at all, beautiful story line not sexual at all but still has beautiful love stories that all connect in ways you don’t expect I love the lady who reads it to she is very expressive.

Decent boxset
Let me begin by saying I'm writing this while listening to the start of the 2nd book.
Book 1, pretty good. Not really worth the rave reviews imo, but held my interest while doing laundry. One thing that bugged me was no one apologizes to the MC for being d*cks to her. I h*Te that.
Book 2, why would you write a spin-off of one of the bad princess? Am I supposed to have compassion for this brat? Feel like this self-absorbed murderer has a path of redemption? Hmmm....😒 Had there been a glimmer of any kind of redeeming quality shown in book 1, I would've been more open to Ava's character development. I'm not there yet.
I'll update this once done. So far, I want to b* slap Ava.
*Further into book 2 >> Unliking this one more and more. Does no one (prince & princess) sincerely apologize? Also, it's so predictable, makes me think Ava is stupid.
2.5 is just downright aggravating. It's one of those, "It could've been so good." I was literally screaming at my ph like I do the TV.
One more thing, in books 2 & 2.5, it was difficult differentiating characters by the narrator.

Lighthearted Fun
I greatly enjoy these series. They're not high art, and certainly less serious than something like Spinning Silver, but it's nice to be able to just relax and listen to something fun. I have loved this narrator's performance of all of these books. also, it's nice to get 3 books in one. I strongly recommend.

Good retelling of classics
The stories were interesting and I liked how they tied together. The last book seemed a little rushed when compared to the first two but it wasn’t terrible. My only critique would be the narrator. She doesn’t have enough voice variation between characters and it is often hard to keep up with who is talking.

Truly wonderful fairytale retellings
I absolutely love the series and as soon as I'm done with this message will be moving on to the next set of books. The love between friends and companions is incredible. It made me feel like I was falling in love all over again. The books just flow right into each other progressing the story deeper and deeper. Truly well done.
