Mediocre

Book was okay. Really no new insight for more seasoned homeschoolers but maybe new homeschool families could glean more. If you’re looking for a practical book on how to shorten your homeschool day, this book is not for you as the title really suggests. I will say that it does have some great reminders of why you or I choose to homeschool and it’s importance.

Not suited for secular homeschoolers

While I found the tidbits of advice agreeable. I found myself struggling to continue listening by half way through. It felt like it was 1/3 solid advice and 2/3 religious view point. As a secular homeschooler, I have no interest in the religious aspects of the book and with limited time I finally chose to stop listening and move on to a different book. I read the description before purchasing and there was no mention of religion, so I was very disappointed to have it be the majority of the content. I wish books with such a strong religious focus would be up front about their content so as not to waste the time of those of us not interested in a bible lesson.

Fresh , Grounding Encouragement for this Generation of Homeschooling Mothers

This book was more than I expected it to be! I assumed it would be a practical “how to guide” to streamline our school days at home. But it was so much more.
With the thousands of voices, advice and resources available to us young mothers in this generation sometimes I feel like I could cry. Am I doing enough? Am I doing too much? How can I do it all?
Comparison hurries us to the next curriculum and lesson.
Durenda’s motherhood experience, perspective and wisdom are what I’ve been longing for. Her natural and unhurried approach to teaching her children are simple, yet revolutionary in today’s culture .
I’m a homeschooling mother of 6 children middle school and younger. I’m so thankful for this book. It gives me permission to teach as my mommy heart has wanted to. Trusting God all the way. I only wish I had read this 10 years ago.
I plan to read it again and this time take notes!
Thank you Durenda.

P.s you should read this book if you haven’t ;)

Your such an inspiration!

Thanks for your gentle spirit full of Godly insight Aunty Durenda - that is what you are for me - an older Godly woman from whom I learn so much! You're an inspiration for many moms all over the world, inluding South Africa where I'm from. Be blessed in abundance!

Love this book!!!

Love love love this book! I am a homeschool mom of 8 years and it was just the encouragement I needed!! It encouraged me in our homeschool (with five kids) as a whole! Biblically centered homeschool is the theme. I am recommending it to all of my homeschool friends!

Peaceful homeschool

One of the things I love about this books is the gentle reminder that peace is a fruit of the spirit. She talks about unhurried homeschooling, but it looks so much like a fruit of the spirit that has blossomed in her school life. Such a great book, and very inspiring to have peace through our school day.

Encouraging and informative

We are considering homeschooling our kids and loved the author’s perspective and tone - she is encouraging and relatable. I would love to give my kids the kind of childhood she describes and appreciate her sharing her experience and wisdom in this book.

Greta For New Christian Homeschoolers!

I am brand new to the idea of homeschooling and have literally just notified my state that my son will be homeschooled the remainder of the school year. I love the scriptural foundation and real life examples threaded throughout this book. This book helped me to grow in confidence to homeschool and as a bonus helped me to understand raising/teaching a boy and how to consider their needs which isn’t considered in a traditional one size fits all school setting. Overall I highly recommend!

Worth the read!

I loved this so much. This solidified my decision to homeschool. She gave very practical realistic information/advice about homeschooling. What I really loved was her not pushing what worked for her family. She stressed often that our family and children are unique. Her main focus was pointing the reader to Christ and allowing him to lead your journey.
