A must read for homeschoolers!

I am a muslim mother & previous home educator. I always followed a CM style approach to learning. Leah Bodens audiobook is read beautifully well. It was interesting, not over loaded with info but had just the right amount of facts, quotes & advice & I loved how passionate she sounded about home education. Excellent!

A delight to listen to

I was in two minds whether to purchase the book or audiobook. As a busy mum with a 5 year old, 6 year old and baby i am struggling to read books so audiobook it was. I am pleased that i managed to complete this swiftly and would like to give myself a pat on the back. Hehe
On a more serious note, this book was a delight to complete and gives you a deep insight in the world of Charlotte Mason and how her methods are even more relevant today. Whilst i do not know Leah personally i felt as if i was speaking to a fellow friend. My favourite part of the book were the “take a mason moment” sections at the end of each chapter which gave practical tips and instructions on how to apply the theme in question into our day to day lives. At some point I intend to buy the physical book to highlight and make my own notes.

Wonderfully enriching and inspiring

A wonderfully enriching and inspiring insight into the Charlotte Mason philosophy of education read beautifully by the author herself. Oh how I wish this book had been around when I started investigating home educating 10 years ago and discovered Charlotte Mason. Leah has made the philosophy more easily accessible to thousands of families and if you don’t know where to start in unpacking the Charlotte Mason philosophy then start here with Modern Miss Mason, it’s by far the most relatable and inspiring, in my opinion.

Highly recommend this heartfelt, encouraging read.

Leah is like the friend that everybody needs. This book is as much for the mothers sake as it is for the childs.
The book nurtures and empowers mothers giving them the confidence to find their own freedom and footing within the philosophy, without watering down charlotte's beautiful teachings that we all love and admire. She speaks of the growth of a child at a high importance and has the best tips and explanation for living books and narration i've come across. I highly recommend this heartfelt, encouraging read.

An essential book for any parent. Outstanding.

Leah Boden's "Modern Miss Mason" is a balm for any parent's soul and heart, brimming both with inspiration and practical, down-to-earth advice. As a family, we have been most influenced by Maria Montessori, but Charlotte Mason's philosophy - so clearly and succinctly explained by Leah - deeply spoke to me. Reading books and spending time in nature, the two most important elements of Charlotte Mason's philosophy, are among our favourite family activities. Leah Boden provides so many ideas and tips on expanding the learning potential of these and many other activities.
I also loved how inclusive the book feels. Leah and her family are Christians, but all the wisdom and experience she shares in "Modern Miss Mason" can be used by any family regardless of their faith, location or financial situation. Every parent will benefit greatly from reading "Modern Miss Mason."
Leah Boden's "Modern Miss Mason" is an outstanding book about homeschooling and parenting. Ultimately, however, it is a book on living a good life. I feel inspired and so grateful for discovering this gem.

An absolute delight and encouragement

I feel so inspired by this book and already want to listen to it again after only just finishing it! The practical advice and modern applications of CM philosophy along the down to earth explanations about the method itself helped deepen my knowledge on CM and see how it can be applied practically in my own family for the benefit of all of us. I haven't read all of Mason's original works so this book really helped in the meantime. I particularly felt the "take care of yourself" part as I've felt I have somewhat neglected my own interests ever since becoming a mother. After this chapter I finally took out my painting set after years of not using it and painted, even trying out watercolours which was outside of my comfort zone. I felt a glimpse of the delight I used to feel loosing myself into the colours, it feels like I am discovering a new alley of an old favourite hobby and I am so thankful for your encouragement Leah! Thank you so so much!
