Summary

Jamie

Parker Hoffstraeder is gorgeous, cocky, and totally irrational. He also broke my heart when he left town 11 years, four months, and 28 days ago.

Not that I’m counting.

I don’t mind admitting it: I was young. I got burned. I learned my lesson.

But the guy swaggers back into O’Leary like he owns the damn place, and suddenly, I’m expected to welcome him to my town...to my life - like nothing’s changed?

Yeah, that I mind.

It’s only a matter of time until he’s gone again. And there’s no way I’ll give him a chance to take another piece of me when he goes.

Parker

Jameson Burke is the most arrogant, infuriating human on the planet. He’s also taller, broader, and impossibly hotter than he was before I left town.

But, whatever. It’s fine. I can handle it.

Coming back to O’Leary was supposed to be like coming home. I hadn’t realized that there’s no statute of limitations on how long your first love and former best friend is allowed to hate your guts or how much bad luck can befall a person in a short time.

But, I can handle that, too...or at least, pretend to.

When Jamie and I are thrown together in a blizzard, though, everything changes in the space of one single, scorching night. Suddenly, I’m dreaming of a future I can’t have, and he’s stuck in a past he can’t let go.

It feels like we’re playing with fire, and this time, I’m the one who’s gonna burn.

So much angst and fear of being vulnerable

This is a great story to listen to, but man I just wanted to holler at them to please TALK and someone, someone take the chance for love, Thank goodness they had friends looking out for them and helping them when they wouldn't acknowledge what everyone else knew. I think my favorite scene was where Parker and Jamie's most recent boyfriend tag-team ganged up on him. Wow, talk about Jamie's worst nightmare! And Parker's mother, although manipulative, was still a hoot, especially the way Parker KNEW she was faking his father's ailments and knew how to handle her. For all the good things about the story, however, I did want to know more about what happened to Molly. It is touched on several times, but never really explained. Maybe that is talked about in a preceding book? Regardless, I really enjoyed this audiobook and the fantastic cast of main and secondary characters.

The narration by Michael Pauley was fantastic as always. He is so fabulous with emotions and getting across what the characters are feeling. He really brought them all to life for me. Great job and great listen.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Oh my, The Fire indeed!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4.5 stars
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Heat Level: 4

The angst, miscommunication, and passion! Oh my, The Fire indeed!

The fire, the passion, the angst, good lord! This was an intense, highly charged ride! These two have a complex past and continue to let the past dictate their present. The have basically been in love with each other since they were teens and through disastrous and frustrating miscommunication they fight their connection so much so they appear to hate each other! This was one of those books where I wanted to strangle the characters and tell them to just talk to each other! There is so much back and forth, angst and passion, love and hate in this book that could have been solved or avoided by just being honest but then I guess it wouldn’t be such a gripping, frustratingly steamy read!

I loved these two together then they were honest and I liked how they ended up fighting for each other. The community rallying around them at the end was also so wonderful to see. I really enjoyed this ride and really do just Love O’Leary!!

Thanks for reading!

Love 💓 Love In O’Leary

What an amazing series Love In O’Leary has been and The Fire 🔥 has been one of the best in the series.
May Archer’s characters of Parker and Jamie reconnect after 11 years, Parker left for Boston to go to college and Jamie stayed in O’Leary, misunderstandings and hurt between them have kept them apart for the year Parker has been back in O’Leary but after becoming stranded together in a snow storm and forced into each other’s company they work at getting back their friendship. They realise their feelings are still strong and the chemistry is stronger still. However, they still can’t manage to communicate effectively. Can this relationship ever work?
It’s great to see previous characters from the other books returning, and the story is full of humour and emotion.
This is one of the best series currently available and I’m looking forward to any further books.

Great story, the narrator ruined it.

this is a great addition to the love in oleary series unfortunately for me the narrator just ruined it. Between the ridiculous voice he gave parker, the OTT spicy scenes, and not even taking the time to learn how to pronounce names properly. It all annoyed me so much that I stopped listening and just read the book instead.
Again great story, bad narrator

Enough heat to melt the snow.....

I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, so god help my bank account as I’m going back to the beginning! You don’t really need to have listened to the rest prior to listening to this one, I didn’t feel i missed too much by not having done - that said, I want to!

Enemies to Lovers, second chances, forced proximity, terrible communication all add together to make an enjoyable story. Parker and Jamie have tons of history and plenty of issues to wade through - getting snowed in gives them the ideal opportunity. I think there’s more of a backstory for them in the previous books but I need to hear them to find out.

Michael Pauley, of course, was fantastic narrating. He’s a definite favourite of mine and he sucks you in to a story from the first few minutes.

Longstanding love-hate second chance fun

This is a second chance romance but also enemies to lovers. The history between them goes back to high school and I’m not sure that either of them has grown up when it comes to their relationship. I loved the setting of having them forced to be together because of the snow storm. However the level of stubborn miscommunication did annoy me at times but not enough to detract from my enjoyment of the story. I enjoyed their banter and some of the silliness that went on. Although it did feel like a novella that had been stretched into a novel. I loved the community spirit at the end of the story. Perfect conclusion.
Michael Pauley does a great job narrating this story. He gave each character their distinctive voices and personalities. I think his narration makes the difference I’m not certain I would have enjoyed reading the book as much.

Old enemies to rekindled love.

This is another interesting addition to the Love in O'Leary series.
Parker and Jamie had been friends in school, but fell out. Parker left O'Leary and Jamie. When he comes back, Jamie still can't get over his anger. However, Mother Nature had plans for them! They get stranded by a storm and the are forced to work things out. I liked the banter, and humour, but I was less a fan of their miscommunication. Eventually, they got their isht together and worked things out.
Michael Pauley is a new addition to the series. He is consistently good throughout the narration (as expected). He's great with the characters, especially with their emotions. An enjoyable way to enjoy the book.

A beautiful story

I really really loved this book by May Archer. I am a big fan of second chance romance and kind of enemies to lovers romances.

I really loved Jamie and Parker. Their snark and sass was so much fun to listen to. They were hot and sweet together too. And I loved the drama between and the way it resolves itself.

It was a great book and Michael Pauley makes them come to life beautifully.

Really enjoyed it

Good story, the voice was not my favourite

I liked the story even though I’m not a big fan of second chances. The storyline progresses nicely to a happy ending and the things get clearer for them both throughout the story.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Well described characters that’s developed in to realistic personalities
I like that the town is so inclusive and the author has created a world I definitely want to revisit
Good chemistry between Jamie and Parker from the beginning

Narrator:
He reads with passion and has clear pronunciation but the voice is in my opinion not my favourite and at times I feel like he gets to enthusiastic
