About this listen
Another night at the races is more than burnt rubber with a hit of nitrous. For one young woman, it's navigating trauma, love, and loss in the stifling Texas heat under the watchful gaze of her brother’s best friend and reigning King of the Streets, Jordan Slater. Home in Arkadia again, Raelynn Casey starts to heal from a terrible incident at college. She finds love in Jordan, a member of her brother’s circle of racing buddies. When another in the racing circle, the guy who took her to her high school prom, exposes his feelings for Raelynn, tragedy erupts like a tank of race fuel. Guilt, remorse, and pain must be overcome before Raelynn and Jordan can race to The Finish Line.

Emotionally rich street racing romance!
Jordan and Raelynn's story is rich with detail, street racing, street justice, history, trauma, family and love. Raelynn returns home to the illegal street racing community she has always been a part of, the man she has always loved ( but who rejected her), and to her family. Unfortunately she returns as a changed woman. She has emotional baggage and a visceral reaction to intimacy.
Turns out relationships between various characters aren't quite what they seen, including Raelynn and Jordan. As the air between them clears and lines are drawn, Raelynn and Jordan may have a chance to get together. Of course their union doesn't come without incident.
I didn't know much about the street racing culture and found this part of the story very interesting. Leslie Scott has also included a lot of emotional detail in the plot. Despite the incidents in this story taking place over only a few months, it is heavily influenced by the characters' shared pasts and has ramifications into their futures.
Overall the story was rich with detail and wonderfully romantic. It is really quite enjoyable.
