Summary
A lesbian medical romance about the powerful breakthroughs we can't always see.
Nadia Keating has barely started her cardiothoracic fellowship training, but she already has the archetype nailed - she's direct, uncompromising, and suffering from a God complex.
Before she can focus on her impressive research, deeply closeted Nadia has a personal project: getting her inconvenient attraction to women out of her system. She picks a stranger online for a one-night stand.
Ashley Rylan, the chief of Nadia's department, is her polar opposite - sweet, agreeable, and soft-spoken - and the stranger Nadia unwittingly chooses.
The two women's meeting is a hostile disaster, and they would love nothing more than to never see each other again. However, their paths keep colliding as Nadia embarks on an ambitious experiment that could lead to a historic medical breakthrough.
Despite warring egos and the secrets they keep, their connection is powerful and growing. Maybe having sex would help them get over their distraction at work? Or would that just ruin everything?

Predicable plot and characters disappoint
An unbelievable story where a kind hearted woman falls for an unappealing, nasty, arrogant character just because she is physically attractive. And, this somehow is leads to true love - as if! It is so unbelievably unrealistic. Once you have read one of these stereotype romances you have read them all. I regret buying this and wasting my money because it is too boring to finish.
Possibly this is Faith Prize's first novel because, although the writing is not bad, the characters are two dimensional, the plot lacking in imagination and the setting under developed.
The audiobook is made worse by the usual formulaic narration of Abby Craden with her irritating accent.

What a fantastic debut novel by Faith Prize! I couldn’t stop listening - Abby Craden never misses, outstanding narration as always.
Engaging and likeable characters, I was hooked from the start and didn’t want it to end.

A celebration of arrogance
The writing is sufficient. The "fifth surgeon" is a horribly arrogant person. This book seems to celebrate this kind of person as god-like and special and therefore their abhorrent behaviour is acceptable.

Brilliant
I really enjoyed this title and listened for hours on end... reluctantly paused, to only look forward to starting again... such a talented author... Faith kept me engaged with her writing... these characters had my interest and sent my imagination on quite the journey... I look forward to another opportunity where I am able to lose myself in her talented writings once more...
Abby Craden.... another perfectly narrated story as always...

Worth the credit xxx
It was a very good book that would've earned 5 stars if it' hadn't been rammed full of medical terms. Abby as usual does an excellent job but there's only so much you can stand with hours of medical terms. If you can block out much of it then the story line and narration is 5 stars 🌟
