Kept me guessing
I loved this book, although not as racey as Wideacre it still keeps you guessing and wanting to know more.

I’m struggling to finish this book!
I really enjoyed book one Wildacre and now listening to The Favoured Child but the accent of this reader is awful, I’m at chapter 11 but it’s irritating me so much if I get a phone call, need to vac or go outside I don’t pause it I let it continue, I want to know what is happening with the storyline but the accent of Richard or narrator is not making it easy to listen to! She can do some accents well so why spoil it with hideous ones, surely you listen to to it before you add it to the library!

I disagree with most!
I understand that most reviews are disappointed in the change of narrator but it’s about the story to me.
A little sordid and sad but well worth listening too.
Please listen and form your own view am so glad I did!

Real enjoy this series

loved it
A genre I wouldn't normally choose but have thoroughly enjoyed escaping into another time. The story made me gasp a few times and I found myself wanting to intercept! my only criticism is ... I wasn't overkeen on the narration, but that's personal opinion. Looking forward to the last book in the trilogy but am waiting for my credit!

Interminable
Another interminable read, I skipped whole chapters to make it go faster. So much pessimism and disaster, nothing to redeem it, except the reading, which was OK. The final half hour is the first chapter of the next book in the series - well it doesn't much make you want to continue, same gloomy writing.

Love the book but not the narrator
I've read this book many times, this trilogy is darkly brilliant and I always enjoy it. But what, right from the start killed it a little, were the silly character voices by the narrator. These people are supposed to be Sussex gentry not young Queen Elizabeths. It's not a pantomime. It detracts from the story.
