About this listen

A hit and run. A suspicious death. A vendetta.

Sam Earnshaw’s recovery from a year-long coma should be an occasion for celebration. Instead, he reveals that the hit and run incident that left him close to death was no accident. Someone deliberately pushed him into the path of a speeding vehicle.

As DCI Tom Raven leads the investigation into the attempted murder, he soon uncovers a web of dark secrets and lies. The attempt on Sam’s life is not the first time a killer has struck.

And it won’t be the last.

As the bodies mount up, Raven is forced into a race against time, whilst facing serious questions about his own life and future.

Set on the North Yorkshire coast, the Tom Raven series is perfect for fans of LJ Ross, JD Kirk, Simon McCleave, and British crime fiction.

Excellent story but poor narration

I am hooked into the Tom Raven saga and found the twists in the plot really imaginative but the poor narration almost ruined it.

Another set of murders for Tom Raven

This latest Yorkshire murder story is totally spoiled by the narrator who mangles so much of the dialogue. The story is fast paced with s a surprise near the conclusion, so worthwhile to hear what happened next to Tom and his team.

Great Story - Terrible Narration

Great storyline with plenty of twists and turns along the way - all spoilt by really amateur narration. All women's voices were breathy and husky and every sentence ended with an upward inflection making the whole thing difficult to follow, so much so that I swapped to reading this one as opposed to listening and enjoyed it so much more. This narrator needs to listen to some other great narrators, like Angus King for example, and learn his craft a lot better or just narrate children's books as his style would fit this genre better.

Love the stories but…

I love listening when I drive, enjoy the stories but the narration is dreadful. As a Yorkshire woman, the attempts at a Yorkshire accent are appalling. Sorry Dan!

annoying voice of the narrator

The narrator has a really limp voice, monotonal, high pitched and very whiny. It really spoils the story.

Great listen

I am really starting to like this team of detectives. Narration is a bit iffy at times, but on the whole not too bad. Will look forward to the next instalment.

Was hoping for better

I really hoped that the narrator would take on board the criticism made by myself and other listeners but I think this is the last one I can endure.
The story was somewhat far fetched and repeated explanations of who the main characters are and their back story seemed to be there for padding. Once again Raven’s super poor judgement with women (not named for obvious spoiler) was just a silly interlude.
Sorry, but not planning to listen any more!
