Summary

A dragon's kingdom. A star-crossed love. And a cursed pearl with the power to mend the world, or break it...

Shiori's quest continues in the soaring sequel to the New York Times bestselling young adult fantasy Six Crimson Cranes.

Princess Shiori made a deathbed promise to return the dragon's pearl to its rightful owner, but keeping that promise is more dangerous than she ever imagined.

She must journey to the kingdom of dragons, navigate political intrigue among humans and dragons alike, fend off thieves who covet the pearl for themselves and will go to any lengths to get it, all the while cultivating the appearance of a perfect princess to dissuade those who would see her burned at the stake for the magic that runs in her blood.

The pearl itself is no ordinary cargo; it thrums with malevolent power, jumping to Shiori's aid one minute, and betraying her the next—threatening to shatter her family and sever the thread of fate that binds her to her true love. It will take every ounce of strength Shiori can muster to defend the life and the love she's fought so hard to win.

Amazing!

As cliche as it sounds I never write reviews, but this is a story is for anyone and everyone to hear! I get bored very easily but this book and it’s narrator kept me listening. It felt like I was being read a story as a child, and having your imagination transport you into this magical world of love and adventure. I miss Kiki’s voice already.

A litle to repetative

I enjoy a good YA-book, but the first was a lot better than this one. A litle anoying when the main character always solves her challenges by calling out help me! or stop! This reduces the heroins resursfullness to a minimum, and one is left feeling irritated. I would like my heroes to be capable and self suficient. This book left me with the feeling it was written by a man belitteling womans resursefulness. I’m aware that is not the case

My review

I love the sory, the fantasies and the action in the book. I would like a nother book in the series, where Shiori and Taccan get children.

Yes, the story is not as coherent and engaging as in previous book but the ending is so strong I highly recommend this duology.
