Summary

I can speak to demons. The punishment is death.

The mission: Put on a dress, pretend to be a lady, and infiltrate the academy of mages to steal a journal from the forbidden archives.

The problem: I’m no mage and I’ve never worn a dress in my life.

But it’s not like I have a choice. My bastard of an uncle basically sold me to a dangerously pretty nobleman, and they can’t pull off this heist without me. Unfortunately, once I fake my way through the entrance exam with a piece of hacked mage tech, and reach the floating kingdom of Reverie, my problems are only just beginning.

Keeping my secret identity is hard enough without a suspicious prince following me around, and the jealous rich girl who wants to marry him threatening me at every turn. But I know I’m in real trouble when my magic sword starts to talk to me. If I can survive the demon attacks, the backstabbing nobles, and the piles of homework long enough, I may discover the source of magic…and if the truth gets out, it will shatter everything.

The Academy of Falling Kingdoms series is a young adult fantasy adventure full of monsters, murder, and romantic intrigue. Fans who enjoyed Rachel Carter’s Black Mage series and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy will love this sprawling magic academy!

Good listen

I struggled with the narrators accent she gave the characters at first but persevered and overcame this. Good story line right up my street. Demons and magic and first book for ages with no over lengthy love scenes. I like the action and intrigue.

Good but could be better

The book overall was good, some of it very predictable and some good twists. I found it quite slow in parts but overall a good book, narration was good.

A MUST READ

I read the reviews awhile back and was hesitant but glad I gave gave it a chance .This is a great series that is worth the credit; took two days to finish.

This book has adventure family love redemption and sacrifices. Thank you Carrie Coello for a wonderful performance. Carrie made the book even better with the different voices. I could distinguish the different characters with Carrie with different voices.

My favorite part of the book is when Alexander the stuck up Prince wind up in a place that he's not used to and he acts like a little princess LOL.

my favorite character out of the whole book is Lucius. He is funny patient and love to set people on fire and I find out and book two the reason why you like to sit everything and everybody on fire.

Overall this was a great series from the beginning to the end. I recommend this book to anybody who wants a break from vampires and Faye to read.

Box set review

Had a hard time getting into the books. It seemed to drawn out. Main character never seemed to get ahead or really obtain what she needed. It felt like the book was just thrown together. The performance was very good.

Well worth listening to.

I didn't think I would be so enthralled by this story. It was really good. The reader did a superb job. The twists and tangles kept you interested. Really worth the listen.

Has a Very teenager angst feel

There was a lot of repetition of I’m just a girl from the scraps but… I know he betrayed me but.. I don’t belong here. Story had potential, but just fell short in the whining tone of the narrator and the repetition of the MC knowing she shouldn’t be doing something but doing it anyway. Not something I’d have listened to til the end if I hadn’t spent a credit on it.

Voice

I started listening to this book and it took me so much to listen to this women’s voice. It was horrible that I had to stop on like the forth chapter. She sounds like a valley girl.

Falling Kingdoms Academy Series

Raised in the slums and fighting for survival every day Winter scavenges with her brother and BFF Sterling in order to live another day.,,,until one day a noble man comes in and pays Winter's uncle to move to the city in order to steal for him. Problem is Winter has never been taught manners nor worn a dress so stealing is one thing, but pulling off 'fitting in" is totally another challenge among the nobles and royals.

I purchased this series based on the reviews. IMO, if I had started with book 1 - I likely wouldn't have moved onto book 2. I found both books really slow moving. Although books 1 & 2 both had pieces of the story that help us understand the final outcome in book 3 (which I found absolutely entertaining) books 1 & 2 storyline could have moved faster for me and left out some other fluff.

Book 3 was very satisfying for me. It was action packed, the story line moved quickly and the characters felt like they "finally" had more substance - and I got my HEA
