Summary
Scotland, 1747.
When Josette needs help finding a trove of gold believed lost in the Highlands, she turns to Will Mackenzie, the most cunning, devious, and clever man she knows. But trusting Will with her secrets is akin to trusting the Devil himself.
They’ve worked together in the past, pretending to be man and wife to ferret out information, and the venture did not end well. Will is dangerous, and so is his life, and danger is not what Josette needs.
But she knows the real reason she’s avoided him is because he’s Will Mackenzie, the golden-eyed, unpredictable man with warm hands that bring her to life. Will has more secrets than Josette ever can fathom, and the most dangerous thing of all is that he’s already stolen her heart.

What A Book!!!
I was waiting and waiting for this book and it definitely did not disappoint. The characters introduced in the previous books made me want more. Will and Josette will take you on an exciting and sensual ride and Angela Dawe is exceptional. I can't wait for the next book. This series is so well written and narrated I will listen to them all over again.

Will Mackenzie
Wonderful Will, the wanderer who is always trying to save others even at his own expense. He secretly thinks he isn't worthy or important so is constantly risking his own freedom to help others. Jennifer Ashley always creates such memorable characters, so well developed, and Angela Dawe is the consummate professional, excellent, narrator for the audiobook if you prefer audio to ebook format. 😍

Sweet and lovely
Hard headed Will's very own love story! Love the ending! Just wish it had the support of Ian and Beth like the previous one did. Liked it!

Great Series!
I loved this series! I will definitely read them all again! The characters are charming, and each story is different. The men are all fallible and redeemable. Start with Lord Ian's story! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Disappointing
I love the Mackenzie series. Ian and Beth’s story is one of my absolute favorites. I can’t say that this is in that category.
I couldn’t come to like either of the main characters. I also found the early part of this book very hard to get into. The narration of the audiobook was exceptional and saved this from being a DNF.

This one is a miss for me.
I love this series and I have most from Audible and the rest in my Nook. This one had too many improbable plots and just didn't have a clear plot thread. Not up to Jennifer Ashley's usual standards.
