About this listen

Men going missing.
Talk of spiderwebs,
A beautiful temptress,
And a Jorogumo.
Seriously?
They’re rarely seen outside of Japan.
Surely there couldn’t be one in Little Feather, could there?

When men go missing, and the only clue is a purported spiderweb, Miranda has no choice but to consider that it’s the work of a Jorogumo, a huge, terrifying spider.

Life isn’t all that easy when you’re a paranormal private investigator involved with a police chief who’s convinced the paranormal world doesn’t exist. When he sees it up close and first hand, Jack knows that Miranda hasn’t been entirely truthful about her profession. Not that great for a relationship in its early stages.

At times like this, Miranda’s glad she has Hank, a loveable little Corgi, to snuggle with!

If you go to the woods you're in for a surprise

I enjoyed this book. What I like, is the fact that the author combines a mystery with the paranormal world to make a interesting cozy mystery. There is a long running story throughout the series where Miranda mother is off trying to solve her husband's murder and she learns a little bit more with each book but the case that the main character, Miranda, is working on does get solved. The mystery is interesting but I had never heard of this mythology creature and not sure that I want to know more (spider, need I say more?). I really like the characters and the fact that not everybody knows about the paranormal world. I can't wait for the next book to see how things are about to change.
With her mother still off on the hunt for her husband's killer Miranda is in charge of protecting both the humans and paranormal's of Little Feather. With the disappearance of three young good looking men her job has just got a whole lot harder. The only four comes from a werewolf that gets herself tangled up in a giant spider web. The paranormal agency doesn't have any record's of a creature with the capabilities describe so it will be up to Miranda to do her own research. But with Jack, Miranda 's human sheriff boyfriend, out on his own searching for the missing men she will have to hurry if she doesn't want him to become the next victim.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with the voices. I like it when an author sticks with the same narrator throughout a series as it adds continuity to the series and you get use to that person reading the story. That is what has happened here, I can't imagine anybody else as Miranda and her friends.

Wonderful paranormal cozy!

The Deepest Dark by Dianne Harman and Krystal Doolittle is #6 in the Miranda Riley Paranormal Cozy Mystery series. This book has 3 missing guys and spider monsters. Miranda is on the case, while trying to hide things from her boyfriend Sheriff Jack. The narration by Kasey Logan is great!
