About this listen

ISIS rocketed onto the world stage seemingly out of nowhere, beheading American hostages, bulldozing international borders, routing the American-trained Iraqi army, and carving out a new state that rules eight million people and a territory larger than the United Kingdom. But who are they? Where did ISIS come from, and how did they rise to power in so little time? What is driving them - and how can they be stopped?

New York Times best-selling author Robert Spencer reveals the blood-drenched history and inner workings of the Islamic State - its military conquests, how it is financing its expansion, and the ideology that is driving its success. As Spencer reveals, the Islamic State has taken the first steps on the path to becoming a serious world power - steps that Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda dreamed of but were afraid to take. The Complete Infidel's Guide to ISIS is your one-stop easy reference for all you need to know about ISIS - and how "infidels" can stop its reign of terror.

It's a book about ISIS

It's a book about ISIS that's the political religious terrorist organisation not the Egyptian Goddess

Essential listening

Unfortunately Mr Spencer is correct. We are living through the early years of world war 4.

God save us all.

Chilling perspective on a complex issue

What made the experience of listening to The Complete Infidel's Guide to ISIS the most enjoyable?

This book seeks to explain much of the seemingly irrational actions of the group most commonly known as ISIS.
I think one of the most key points which is highlighted is the idea that in essence we are being lied to by Western media. A concept which is mentioned time an again is the idea that ISIS is not Islamic. The theory certainly of this author is in fact that ISIS ARE Islamic and follow their religion to the letter. This as is sited more than once is in the authors opinion the reason so many flock from Western culture to the Islamic State.
The book challenges a number of other key concepts entrenched in current Western Media. If for no other reason this book is a good read and talks some sense.

Any additional comments?

I would like to point out that while it is apparent the author has done significant research into the subject I certainly finished this book with the feeling that there is an entirely different side to Islam which it appears the author is ignoring.
I am keen to read The Infidels Guide to the Koran and some other books around this subject as I get the impression this is only one aspect of a very complex issue and I would go as far as to suggest that the author may well have cherry picked passages and key facts for the book that support his theories rather than presenting all the facts and drawing conclusions.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not sure about moving, but there was plenty in the book that was horrifying.
