About this listen
In this short book, Sam Harris and Maajid Nawaz invite you to join an urgently needed conversation: Is Islam a religion of peace or war? Is it amenable to reform? Why do so many Muslims seem drawn to extremism? What do words like Islamism, jihadism, and fundamentalism mean in today's world?
Remarkable for the breadth and depth of its analysis, this dialogue between a famous atheist and a former radical is all the more startling for its decorum. Harris and Nawaz have produced something genuinely new: they engage one of the most polarizing issues of our time - fearlessly and fully - and actually make progress.
Islam and the Future of Tolerance has been published with the explicit goal of inspiring a wider public discussion by way of example. In a world riven by misunderstanding and violence, Harris and Nawaz demonstrate how two people with very different views can find common ground.

Good
Any additional comments?
The book has done what it set out to do in my opinion. And having the extra part at the end only for the audio book listeners was very welcome.

Brilliant
As always, Harris is fluent, coherent and impeccably logical. Nawaz is a worthy team member for Sam. Brilliant.

A book that people must hear!
I thought that this book would be painful but I think it is one of the most important books I have read.

Absolutely worthwhile
The fact that it has been written as a conversation felt jarring in the beginning, because the two are reading their own words and thus do so more rigidly than ones ear naturally expects when listening to two people speak. However, whether I just got used to this or the two began reading more naturally as the book went on, this effect soon dissipated. If you're put of by this in the sample, I would encourage you to ignore it and go ahead with the book anyway.
The two speakers are each important voices of reason in a conversation that is oftentimes void of it. Their conversation is both thought-provoking and highly informative, I think probably whatever place in the debate you came at it from.
Highly recommend it.

Engaging, informative and balanced
Awesome read. Got to see some of a different point of view and learn a lot about Islamism, including misconceptions I had. Going forward, I’m going to pay attention to both of these guys

Excellent conversation between two great minds
To begin, I'm a great fan of these two fantastic men respectively for their work.
This is an excellent dialogue from two different perspectives of Islam in our current climate. it clarifies facts from myth, rumours and misguided ideas towards the religion and overly used associated concepts like 'Islamist' and 'jihadist' actually mean in context. Discursive ideas on dangers, attitudes, reform and progression are laid out alongside presentation of current global situations where dialogue and reform have not been successful.
As a liberal and progressive, Maajid is a man intensely knowledgeable in all aspects of this area. We have so much to learn from him. #solidarity
A must purchase.
